• I could see Serena's mother stewing in anger. I saw her balling her hands into fists by her side and clenching and unclenching her jaws…and I just knew that if given the chance, she would kill me right then and there. Being disciplined by the Principal wasn’t what she wanted and she hated that she was being humiliated right in front of me, a beggar of the pack living off of their resources.
• I didn't know what I had ever done to her and her daughter to deserve this kind of hatred, but sometimes, it just seemed like they had a personal vendetta against me and they wouldn't rest until they completely destroyed me.
