• Silver took my hand in hers, squeezing them gently. “I’m so sorry…” She whispered in a pained voice. “I didn’t want you to find out like this, Lilac. I know that your pack was erased by a similar fire not too long ago…but if my calculations are correct, then you would’ve been a child of thirteen or fourteen at that time. You were an innocent that didn’t deserve what had happened to you.”
• But I shook my head, unable to comprehend how this woman, who had faced so many adversities herself, could be giving me courage when my pack…my father, was the root cause of her distress?
