• It was as though he hadn't missed me at all, which I hadn't expected him to, yet it stung to see him so indifferent. His hair, slightly altered in style but still the same length, was a subtle but noticeable change. The girls around me whispered excitedly, enamored by his presence, wondering if a man like him was still single, which further added to my discomfort.
• “I don’t see a wedding band! Do you?” One of my classmates whispered to another, her voice hush but still loud enough to reach my ears. “Do you think he’s still single?”
