Chapter 3 The Unwanted Omega

  • Sarah -
  • It was a regular day in the Alpha's house, or so I thought, until Beta Joseph summoned all the Omegas, including myself.
  • Beta Joseph stood before us, his demeanour stern, as he handed out packets containing new clothes. His words were curt and direct. "These are the new uniforms," he announced, his voice carrying authority. "All staff members are to wear them. You all must look presentable and professional at all times."
  • A murmur of confusion rippled through the group as one of the omegas dared to speak up. "What about the mating ceremony? Will we be attending?" She inquired, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
  • Joseph's response was swift and cutting. "All unmated wolves, including the omegas, are required to attend the mating ball; you will be off duty at that time," he declared.
  • The omegas exchanged pleasing glances.
  • Then, his gaze shifted to mine, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Except you," he added, his words like a lash. "No one would want a traitor's daughter as their mate."
  • I felt a pang of shame wash over me, my eyes instinctively dropping to the floor as I struggled to contain the rush of emotions threatening to overwhelm me. Joseph's words cut deep, a reminder of the stigma that had followed me since birth.
  • As if sensing my turmoil, Joseph approached me, his voice lowering to a menacing whisper. "Stay out of sight," he warned, his eyes flashing with malice. "Otherwise, the Alpha won't spare you."
  • I nodded silently. "I will do as you say," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
  • "Good ! You all are dismissed.
  • ***********************
  • I carefully laid out the uniform on my bed, tracing my fingers over the deep blue fabric trimmed with crisp white. It was a maid's uniform, complete with a matching apron. Despite its simplicity, I couldn't help but smile as I gazed at it.
  • In truth, I had never owned anything new since my mother's death. My wardrobe consisted of just two worn-out dresses, remnants of a life long gone. Sometimes, kind-hearted pack members like Bertha would donate their old clothes to me. Other times, I resorted to scavenging through garbage bins in search of discarded garments.
  • But now, as I looked at the uniform spread out before me, I felt a surge of gratitude wash over me. It may have been a maid's uniform, but I was happy to own something new that was solely mine.
  • Lost in my thoughts, a sudden knock on the door shattered the fragile peace surrounding me. I made my way to the door and pulled it open, revealing Dave standing on the other side, his expression a mix of worry and anger.
  • "Did Rory bother you?" Dave asked, his voice tense with concern as he scanned my face for any signs of distress.
  • I sighed inwardly, knowing that Dave's presence here could cause trouble. "Why are you here?" I asked softly, casting a cautious glance down the hallway. "Your mum would be furious if she found out you came to see me."
  • Ignoring my words, Dave pressed on, his worry evident in every line of his face. "Tell me if he's bothering you; I'll take care of him," he insisted, his tone tinged with anger.
  • I shook my head, trying to downplay the situation. "It's not a big deal," I replied, hoping to ease his concerns. "I can handle it."
  • But Dave's anger only seemed to intensify at my nonchalant response. "I'll kill him if he tries to hurt you," he declared, his voice low and fierce.
  • Alarmed, I reached out to pacify him, my words coming out in a rush. "Dave, you can't say things like that," I admonished, my voice tinged with worry. "You'll be deemed a traitor if anyone overhears you."
  • But Dave's expression remained resolute, his gaze unwavering. "I don't care," he replied defiantly, his fists clenched at his sides. "I won't let anyone harm you."
  • Although I was grateful for his unwavering loyalty, I was also scared of what his words might mean. Alpha Jacob was ruthless; he would stamp down anyone who went against him. I put him inside and closed the door.
  • "Dave, please, I have already lost my mother; I cannot lose you. So please don't be so reckless."
  • He sighed.
  • "Sarah , I can't stand by and watch you suffer."
  • "I am fine, Dave; I won't stay here for long."
  • "What do you mean ?" he asked.
  • "I have a plan to escape; I just need some time to figure it out," I replied. Dave looked at me with concern in his eyes, knowing the risks involved in trying to escape from Alpha Jacob's pack.
  • "I'll ask him if I can work in one of the cafes or other places he owns. After I feel at ease with the outside world, I'm going to leave."
  • I revealed my plan to Dave. I had never talked about this to anyone before.
  • Dave ran his hand through his hair and said, " Do you know the kind of businesses Alpha Jacob owns ?"
  • I shook my head. He gently ruffled my hair.
  • "It's not the kind of place you should work. He owns brothels, strip clubs, and other illegal establishments. So never ask him for work."
  • I was taken aback by Dave's revelation. I had no idea about Alpha Jacob's businesses.
  • "Ok, still, I will have to think of something."
  • "Just give me sometimes, once I finish my university. I will leave the pack. I will take you with me. Just wait for me." He smiled.
  • I nodded. "Sure, I will wait for you, Dave; you are my best friend."
