Chapter 3 Zero: Silverstone

  • "When it's all hopeless, what will you do? Will you bow before SHE, who has devoured your entire home, stripped your way of life, and constructed a doomsday that cannot be revoked? The Prophecy of Catastrophe continues to influence the people with the darkest hearts. The sanguine that pumps through their ill hearts will cause the world to venture deeper into darkness and Catastrophe. Do as the vines do, and cling onto life."
  • Verse 7 of 33 the Prophecy known only as Catastrophe.
  • "We're finally here, Turstin. Now what?" a familiar voice questioned.
  • "Tch. Such a filthy place this is! We must do what is best for our people. If Silverstone is where we must be, then Silverstone it is." Turstin replied with a hint of dominance to his tone.
  • Roselia merely gazed ahead of them, the city unable to draw the slightest sympathy from her,
  • "Let's not waste any more time. The sooner we get this task done, the faster we can leave this wretched city."
  • Rain pelted against the cloaked soldiers. Turstin's eyes remained fixated upon the papers he held tightly. Droplets contacted the documents, but Roselia could tell what fell onto the documents were not of nature, but droplets of sorrow, from within him.
  • "Turstin…" Roselia whispered worriedly.
  • The woman sighed softly, walking forward, taking the folder from him,
  • "Come on."
  • The thunderous roar caused Turstin to come back to his senses rather swiftly. He dismissed the fact that Roselia snatched the papers from him and followed, marching down the hill further, entering Silverstone City.
  • S i l v e r s t o n e
  • Marked as the worst city in the country, Silverstone solely harbors crimes, murders, and drug trafficking. It is said that those that enter would never escape due to the temptation of living in a "Free" and government-less state. Though it is tempting, the people worldwide comprehend the risks of such a dark and grim city.
  • "The city of Silverstone…." Turstin whispered.
  • The clanking of his sword against his armor echoed through the empty city of crime. Roselia gripped her thorn whip, examining the area before waltzing alongside him. Turstin didn't let his guard down either. Grasping the hilt of his blade, he scanned the deserted and haunted city of Silverstone.
  • "Are you sure you want to go through with this? I mean… this doesn't seem like justice to me, Turstin. This seems more like the path of being a criminal. To top it all off… we're here in Silverstone, the home of crimes and murder. Two Goldenwatch soldiers won't be enough to stop the bombardment of thieves and assassins that will come should they find out we're here." Roselia informed.
  • Turstin chuckled, shaking his head slightly,
  • "I don't think they'll come, Rose. Even if they did, I say we let them. We're a force to be reckoned with. I'm sure everyone recalls our ceremony at the capital."
  • "Would they judge us on our success and bestowment of the medallion or judge based on the fact that our mightiest fell before everyone?"
  • A single glance back at his companion caused Roselia to feel uneasy. She shivered, hating the gaze he gave her. She loathed the eyes of those who were cocky. People who grew up to believe they were better than they really were. Those same eyes her father once gave her before he was taken from her. Swiftly, she took her eyes off her beloved. She had to at this point.
  • "Rose. Do you honestly think the image of me falling would have these spineless murderers grow backbone suddenly? This is nothing for an elite like me. You should know by now. I took down the black dragon all by myself, remember?"
  • "NO, Turstin!! WE aided YOU! We had to aid you. We couldn't lose you at the battle line, especially to a demonic creature like that dragon. You were going crazy, and that arm hadn't been healed properly by the time we were attacked, but you went ahead and used it, knowing how the dark aura could consume you. All for what? Glory?" Roselia yelled.
  • Her echoes ravaged the dead city. Turstin groaned, turning, ultimately facing the woman. He pointed his sword at her and spoke, his voice slowly rising,
  • "I had to use it, and you know it! The others would have died If I hadn't done so! It would have been better me than any of my comrades…."
  • Turstin's gaze fell to the ground rapidly. Hands shaking, and words seeping past his lips with great sadness,
  • "I would have been devastated if it was… you, Roselia."
  • Tears flowed down Roselia's cheeks. She crumbled onto her knees, overpowered by the sorrow that afflicted her. Her breath calmed, but the tone of one close to crying could still be heard,
  • "What good would I be to you… If you were gone?"
  • Turstin's eyes reverted to the mud that had his prints embedded in them. A soft voice came from Turstin,
  • "I am sorry, Roselia... I didn't mean to-"
  • Before Turstin could even finish his sentence, Roselia rolled out of the way of an explosion that sent chunks from the solid ground into the air. Mud rained down alongside slabs of earth ragged and sharp. Turstin, thoroughly confused, stood wondering if Roselia was alright ,
  • "ROSE!!! Are you alright!?"
