Chapter 3

  • Brodey Bodfor
  • The lounge and small kitchen area were meant for all of us to share. I took one of the smallest separate rooms. We were to be provided with a bed and desk. Turning on the lamp that was on the work surface, this was my only source of light.
  • Growling!
  • I was not impressed with the accommodations that the alpha King, Coldfurgus had provided.
  • If I were a betting man, which I am not, I would have thought these rooms were cells for upper class prisoners. Studying the door, it very well could pass off as a normal looking entrance. Yet it had resemblances of a prison door. Shaking my head, I dropped my bag on the bed preparing myself for tonight's event.
  • Sounding as if he had been insulted, “This is hard to swallow, father!” I heard Ace yelling!
  • I sighed!
  • Ace must have come to the same conclusions as I had.
  • We could not bring this dispute up to the Alpha King. He said he would make sure each of us had a bed, which there was. He said a desk would be in each room, which there was. The Alpha King did not say we would be comfortable.
  • I pulled out the razor and other items I would need to cut off my facial hair. Though it was not asked of us, my father had told me we might be more comfortable in the hotter climate if we shaved off our beard.
  • With the humidity, I was already scratching my chin. Thankful that I had listened to my father. The last time my father and I were visiting Erolzwald, he was glad he shaved off his designer stubble. The Erolzwald temperature is the opposite of Unnash. Our region was not good for growing food, even during the summertime, only native trees would grow. Unnash was best suited for animal farming and hunting. The north provided the majority of the meat that the Dorhellhound population ate. The fur that traders sold with the main source of gold that was distributed throughout the northern kingdoms.
  • Stepping out of the room with the items, “tell me there is a bathroom here!” I said as I saw my father.
  • Ace was huffing, “you will have to get in line. One toilet and sink for the fifteen of us. I swear we should have booked a place to stay, it would have been a lot more comfortable. Have you sat on the beds yet?”
  • “Let me guess?” I soured my face, “the ground would be more pleasant!”
  • Ace narrowed his eyes on the door that brought us in here, “do you think that …”
  • I began to laugh sarcastically, “I already was daydreaming about leaving here the second my foot landed on Erolzwald soil!”
  • Rimvan Longarm, my uncles and a few gammas walked into the room, closing the door behind them. The atmosphere had changed the second the door was closed.
  • “I do not have much time! I have done a sweep of the place and there are no bugs. Though I recommend that you remain cautious when you are speaking.” Mr. Longarm gave us a map. “My daughter, Finja, found inconsistency with my plan. Innocently she brought it up to the Alpha King.”
  • Ace appeared irritated, “I take it she has no knowledge of what is going on?!”
  • “I have kept her away from this as much as possible!” He replied, forcing a smile on his face, “though with her being head of security, she spotted my errors. I recommend never playing chess with the woman, she is brutal!”
  • My Uncle Myres gave Mr. Longarm a genuine smile, “I take it that you taught her how to out manoeuvre her opponents?”
  • Mr. Longarm bragged about his daughter's skills and traits a bit longer. Then he gave us the map that he had folded up and placed in his back pocket.
  • “I taught her everything she knows, but I did not teach her everything. You will see the new plan.”
  • My Uncle Zevar looked over the map. “I will have to make sure Alpha Bluffs gets these new changes. My men will be here no later than thirty days. I hope that Alpha Bluff can get to the group before they reach here, informing them of the changes.” He tapped the page, “my men should be at Dark Crystal Castle soon if they are not there now. Once they have refilled their supplies they will leave.”
  • Mr. Longarm was nodding his head, “Featha, she has already informed me that supplies have already been prepared for your warriors. While they were travelling here, Featha had told me they had dropped off the supplies at the pick up spots. Boats are ready to take your men down the river. Manoeuvring through the hills and mountain terrain.”
  • “This will help them a great deal!” My Uncle Myres commented.
  • “As we speak, Sufa of the Stormfall mountains, he and his mate Cesa are preparing their warrior to join the group at the conjunction. Once they have joined together, it will take roughly six days to get to the West side of Erolzwald.” Mr. Longarm took a deep breath. “Prince Zek will meet the warriors, his men will then sneak everyone into the Capital. On the Semi circle moon, Prince Zek and Beta Morris will light the flames to notify the warriors of our alliance party, to attack.”
  • The plan was simple, get here, and mingle with the citizens of Erolzwald. Take over the Capital and kill the Alpha King. Sounds easy, yet the work was going to be brutal.
  • Mr. Longarm continued to inform us that half of those who are against the Alpha King’s ruling would be positioned inside of the Castle and the other half would be positioned in the north and west of the Capital. In case the warriors were ahead of schedule, we would be able to get the group to the Capital without Alpha King Coldfurgus being tipped off.
  • Alpha Zevar was the first to point out the obvious, “the female that was in the great hall, would she happen to be unmated still?” He gave Ace a quick glance.
  • With a wide smile, Mr. Longarm straightened his shoulders, “That she is!” The smile he once had disappeared. “Our agreement still stands? My family is not to be harmed!” I could tell that he was over protective of his family. Unlike Mr. Longarm, our family was not here. The chances of one of his family members getting harmed were possible.
  • With everything in this life, nothing is for free.
  • My Uncle Zevar nodded his head. Explaining that the documents for his family's pardon were with him. He would give the documents to him once the Alpha King was dead.
  • The understanding that had been arranged with my uncles was that the Longarm’s were not to be harmed in the upcoming events.
  • Tonight there was to be a grand feast for all of us that have arrived for the Alpha’s meeting. There we would get a visual of his family and those that were not involved in the take over.
  • Glancing over at my brother, “29 more days!” I hissed. “This is going to be a very long wait!”
  • Pulling out another map, it was the layout of the Erolzwald Castle. Rimvan Longarm informed us of the security system that had been designed. The sections that we would have difficulties getting to would be the locations that are occupied by the royal and the high ranking families.
  • This is where Prince Zek and his beta would come into action. They were to make sure that our warriors had access to this location. The only location we would not have access to is the heart of the security. He pointed out his daughter's office, where she spent the majority of her time when she was here. She was the heart of security. Only the highest ranking personnel had direct access to this section.
  • “When the fighting begins, that will be the first area Prince Zek and Beta Morris will take my family and their wives too. The area had been designed to be impenetrable. It is the safest location in the castle!” Rimvar Longarm explained.
  • He cleared his throat, he explained to us that his daughter had a special gift. That is only a trait she seems to have.
  • I began, “what you are saying is that if she wants to she can touch an object and she can see images. Gathering information!” I thought about this for a second.
  • My uncles glared at each other with a wide grin on their faces.
  • It had been said that Levreh Bloodrose had this ability. It was not a consistent thing, and many did not understand how it worked. However, it was recorded that sometimes she could touch an object, and sometimes she would get an imprint in her mind.
  • Many times she had used the skill to find missing children. 'Is it possible that she had inherited this trait from her great great grandmother Levreh?' I thought to myself.
  • “I only say this because …” Mr Longarm glanced at the objects that were on our body. “If my daughter accidentally touches one of the items that are on your body, she could potentially get a vision of this meeting.”
  • I was starting to understand what Mr. Longarm was hinting at. Studying my family, I could see that they were on the same page and thought wise. It is not that we think she would inform Alpha King Coldfurgus it would just put her in a compromising situation.
  • Mr. Longarm continued to speak, “If the information that Prince Zek has told me is true, his father plans on killing me first. Then he will aim his attention towards the other Alpha’s.” This was not new information, though we allowed the man to continue his speech. “Coldfurgus is going for supreme leadership. In the chaos of everything, there is a plot to have Prince Zek and Beta Morris killed in the mess as well.” Rimvan Longarm huffed out in anger.
  • The understanding with Prince Zek was easy to settle with. For his participation in this plot against his father, he would step down from the title of Alpha King. Though in return he would inherit the position of Alpha of his wife's father's territory, that being Dorasea, when his father in law retires. Alpha Bluff’s was a great Alpha to work with, the only issue that I had with him, Alpha Bluff’s could never seem to arrive on time for anything. There was a running joke that Alpha Bluff’s would be even late for his own funeral.
  • All of us nodded our heads in accordance. This was new information! I could not understand how a father would plot to kill his son and his beta. Then on the other side of the coin, his son has joined forces with Rimvan Longarm, in the plot to overthrow his father. It appeared that trying to kill your family members was a thing in the southern hemisphere. In the name of greediness and power!
  • The plot to kill us has been in the working now for five years if not longer. Alpha King Coldfurgus has always been an ambitious man. Marrying his five daughters off once they became of age to his strongest allies. The Alpha’s of Burha, Azgar, Bazzu, Galata and Unzarar. One of those Alphas is his brother, Renrit of Galata.
  • The Alpha from Galata was rumoured to be the illegitimate son of the late Alpha King Jalab. He granted his offspring land that was not his by birthright, yet somehow the previous Alpha had mysteriously gone missing. Allowing the illegitimate son to take over. If the rumours are true, he is worse than Alpha King Coldfurgus.
  • A shiver ran down my spine at the thought of an uncle and niece mating, and producing offsprings. Though Renrit was only the Alpha King’s half brother, they still shared similarities in the bloodline.
  • The Bodfor clan is familiar with the Alphas of Burha, Azgar and Bazzu. There has been a family disagreement for many generations. Continuously at odds with one another.
  • Opening the folder that was in his hands, Rimvan Longarm gave us pages to review. Pictures of our targets along with their personal information have been provided. Along with this information we were provided with how many individuals would be arriving with them, and their areas of accommodation plus more.
  • With the map of the castle and land for us to remember. Detailed information of the location where guards would be positioned. Guard duty changes, everything that we would need to execute this attack. We were more than prepared to take over.
  • I started to laugh as I closed up the file. My father glared at me, “what do you find humorous?”
  • I pointed out to my father how the Alpha King Coldfurgus required five additional kingdoms plus the Erolzwald army. At full force of the Alpha King's Alliance, he should be able to easily take over us. Yet he has to use the excuse of this meeting. Plotting to kill the alphas of each kingdom that opposes him.
  • “It really does show how weak he really is. Once our army is here, we will be easily able to take over Erolzwald.”
  • Uncle Myres was the first to respond to my statement, “Until our army is here, each of you young pups will keep your temper down and swords ... plus your claws away. As it stands we are at a disadvantage. Until our army arrives, we will stick together as a group, we are stronger as one versus being separated and alone.”
  • Doyen had entered the room, towel drying his face, "the sink is free, though as a warning, the water is cold." He sarcastically laughed, "I guess the Alpha King thinks we do not have hot water up in the North and he wants us to feel at home here!"
