• After the altercation with Ace, I decided to go to the hospital and sit with my brother until he woke up. I knew being there would not speed up my brother's recovery. I required a place where I knew no one would be around to speak to me. The moment my brother opened his eyes, I was quick to call my father, informing him that Howley was doing well and was alert. Soon after the call, our father came into the hospital room informing us that the meeting would begin in two hours. For Howley, attendance was optional. For myself it was mandatory!
• Chuckling, “I wouldn’t miss this meeting for nothing!” Howley glanced at the needle that was sticking in his hand, “call the nurse to get this damn thing out of me before I pull it out!” Howley had a minor dislike towards needles. That stemmed from his childhood experience.
