Chapter 86 A Step Backward (One)

• It had been a long, long day for Sandra Anthony, but it was also a really fulfilling one, or at least, she hoped so. Even though she was tired from unboxing and arranging her stuff in the new apartment, and was nowhere near completing the task, she still kept at it. Taking a little break, she went into her son’s room. Alex was sleeping in his crib. She didn’t blame him one bit, after all, it was late at night, and he had been happily crawling about all day, checking out his new environment and tiring himself out.
• Looking at his cherubic face, she could feel self-doubt creeping into her mind, but tried to shake it off. She was doing what was best for her and Alex, but now, she realized that she had told herself, and even others those words countless times, so that they were starting to lose meaning, and even sounding like a poor excuse. Already, she missed Dan and Becca so much, that she wondered if there was any point to what she was doing.
• A knock on the door jarred her from her thoughts, but she already knew who would be knocking on the door at this time of the night, even though she only just moved here. Getting up, she went to the door and looked through the peephole to see that she was right. Then she opened the door to let him in.
