I’m guessing you didn’t even tell the poor guy that he’s going to be a father, and now, he's probably found out and is threatening you with child custody or something. Or maybe you think he’ll soon find out and now, you’re looking for advice. That’s why you’re so scared, isn’t it?”
• Becca bent her head in shame but did not answer, and her silence was answer enough. When she didn’t reply, Dan spoke again.
• “Oh, wait! Are you planning to get back with him? Do you want to use Emma as a way of getting back with him? After all, you did say he was loaded. Is that it? Have you run through your settlement money and are now looking for more? Have you decided that you can’t live without a rich man? No wonder you want nothing to do with me. I must look like a pauper to you.” Dan said. He asked the questions in quick succession, while Becca sat there and watched him. The words cut a knife through her heart, but she let him rant and when he was finally done, she spoke again.
