Chapter 53
- Morning came in the twinkle of an eye. I groaned as I got out of bed getting ready for the selection. I walked absent minded to the main hall of the selection chamber. My heart racing as I thought about the fact that I was going alone. Cardan had been nowhere to be found when I looked for him, hoping to beg him into going with me despite what'd happened previously. Even if I couldn't find a way to convince him, I was hoping that Rhysand'd somehow but then I was told he'd gone to suppress a rogue attack at the border.
- As for Cardan, they were unaware of his where about. I stalled for time dragging my feet toward the selection chamber. Yet no single thought of backing out crossed my mind. Coming to the entrance of the chamber I paced back and forth for a while listening to the chatters that echoed from the other side of the door before finally mustering the courage to let myself in.
- My gaze travelled around the room, anxiety gnawed at me as the girls turned in my direction, each of them standing beside their mentors. I drew in a deep breath, striding forward slowly. I was the only one without a mentor and I had no explanation to give why I was without him.
