Chapter 2 I’Ll Uncover Your Mystery

  • EIRA’S POV
  • “Ah!” I tightly gripped the corner of the table while the guards were slashing my back. I was half-naked, my eyes were closed, my jaw was clenched and the tears were rolling in the corner of my face. Having slashes was the last thing I thought about. My sister was the most important person in my life and I hated people when they were hurting her.
  • Since the day our mother died, I promised myself that I would protect Fira as much as I could. I would die first before her. I would be in pain, not her. I was working so hard to be a warrior, to be her strength.
  • “Ahh!” I gritted my teeth again when the guards slashed me one hundred times. The only sound that I heard was the screaming of the people who were taking their punishments and my scream was one of those.
  • Endure it, Eira. Endure it.
  • When I closed my eyes again, my mother popped into my head. She was smiling charmingly when she placed her hands on my cheek and said, “We may be low-born, but we have a high-class heart.”
  • Those lines kept repeating in my head. If there was something to treasure, those were memories of her. Every time I was facing unbearable pain like slashes, I just put my mother in my head and think how she died. I just woke up that she was already gone, she was killed by the hunters, she was in her wolf form when they shot her. Fira tried to save her, but because of her vulnerability, she failed.
  • “Stop that! Stop!”
  • A familiar voice filled my ears. My eyes were blurred due to the severity of the pain. I was forced to stand up, but I just fell again.
  • “King Ice, this is your father’s order.”
  • “She’s just a woman. Look. Aren’t you have pity in her?”
  • “But, Your Majesty, if your father finds out一”
  • “I’ll take the remaining slashes, then!”
  • I closed my eyes. I was forced to be conscious. I could not stay up long. The darkness consumed me.
  • When I opened my eyes, I was lying with my frontal body slammed on the bed. I blinked two times. I was relieved when I saw Fira, she was holding my hands.
  • “Eira! Crap! Are you okay?” The worry was written into her eyes. “Do you want water? Food?” She was panicking and did not know what to do first.
  • “Calm down. I’m fine.” A smile was formed on my lips. “A bad wolf has a long life.”
  • “You made me worry.” She had now teary eyes. I reached for her face, trying not to wince, so she would not be anxious.
  • “You know I hate to see you crying.”
  • “I was scared. Mama died, I can’t take if… if…”
  • “I won’t die. I’m a bad wolf.”
  • I looked around. I felt that my back was in food condition. It was impossible to heal immediately. Last time, it took months to be fully healed.
  • “How did I come here?”
  • “King Ice helped you.”
  • My jaw clenched. “Who the heck give him permission to help me!” I stood up recklessly even though the waves of a stinging sensation were in my back. Fira was in shock. “Where is he!”
  • “Eira…”
  • I grabbed her cheeks and whispered with madness. “All royals are monsters!”
  • Fira’s mouth moved open and close as if she had something to say, but she managed not to. I turned my back and hurried towards the door.
  • King Ice, I will show you that you can’t manipulate me by your pretense!
  • I held the doorknob and was about to move out of the room when Fira talked. “Not all… King Fire’s the reason why I’m still breathing now.”
  • I looked back at her. I shook my head. “You can’t see their real colors by just one good deed.”
  • Then, I left her. I marched into the hallway. My fists were closed. I headed to King Ice’s chamber. I was not yet reaching when I saw Finn, blocking the way. Finn was his personal protector, I knew him because no things I did not know about royals. I studied every single detail about them.
  • “Move!” I directly glared at him.
  • “I’m sorry, Omega. You have no appointment. You can’t disturb King Ice for your own interest.”
  • “I said… move!” I lifted my hand and was about to punch him when she caught it. In one blink of an eye, we were fighting. I flipped over, and when I stood up, I uppercut him. He just dodged to the left.
  • “What’s going on?” King Ice’s kind voice filled my ear.
  • I marched toward him. He gave me a smile as if he did not do something bad to me. As if he was too good and did only good when in the deep of his personality, he was like rotting meat, his whole attitude was stinky, he was worst and heartless.
  • “How are you一” I stopped his words when I punched him in the cheek. The redness from my slap yesterday was visible in it.
  • “Covering your guilt? Or pretending? Whatever game you are playing with… you can’t trick me.” I turned around, leaving him, but he made me halt.
  • “I’m sorry.”
  • My feet were stuck to the floor. I never looked back. His sorry sounded sincere.
  • “If I did bad to you… I’m sorry.”
  • I looked back at him with full of madness in my chest. “Stop acting good! It’s not affecting me!” My stare settled at him. His brownish eyes were exposing sincerity and purity and kindness. He was like not that man, but I was sure he was him.
  • He walked a little closer. The fear caused a shiver to my spine. I slowly backward. "Tell me. What exactly have I done to you?” His voice was gentle, lowered, and gentle. Even his stare and gesture.
  • I did not respond to his question. I just decided to turn around.
  • I will find it out, King Ice. You can’t fool me. I’ll uncover your mystery.
