- That night, I had a hard time falling asleep. Although I had shared the bed with him only a few times, I had quickly grown accustomed to his warmth, to the comforting presence of having him close. I needed it. My body betrayed me, the hormones stirring my emotions, making it feel like a hard knot was growing deeper in my throat with every passing day.
- In the morning, I was surprised not to find him in the living room. I walked to the kitchen and, instead of him, I bumped into Gloríe, who was preparing breakfast with her usual efficiency. On the table was a tray of fresh fruit, and I took a piece almost without thinking, trying to sound casual when I spoke to her.
