• He was lying. There was no evidence from the hospital that said I was adopted. There was not a single file that suggested I was moved from someone’s arms to another. If he wanted to disown me so badly, he would have used another method to do so. He didn’t have to lie that I was adopted. That was a silly lie that didn’t need to be told to scare me.
• Nevertheless, I kept searching. Where the birth certificate didn’t provide enough details for me, I had gone to the hospital to check directly with their files. It took a long while and a little bribe to the hospital consultant before I was allowed to check their past files from months ago. Finally, I found what I was looking for. The nurse held it out to me with a smile.
