Chapter 10

  • “What are you referring to?” He Nian already knew what he meant but still asked boldly.
  • Pei Shaoyu adjusted his tie with adroit movements. With frustration on his face, he replied, “It seems like you’ve forgotten.”
  • Pei Shaoyu caught He Nian by surprise again when he leaned forward and kissed her. This time, the kiss was brief without any signs of transgression. Although, this didn’t mean He Nian condoned his actions.
  • As she was about to push him away, Pei Shaoyu let go of her abruptly, then grabbed onto her hand and held it. While the two of them were still fussing around, the photographer had already taken the opportunity to snap shot after shot in quick succession, “Just like that, you two can get closer together!”
  • Pei Shaoyu looked at the woman in his arms. It was the first time he watched her this attentively up close.
  • He Nian was so petite that it took him just one hand to almost restrain her completely. She was also breathtakingly beautiful. It didn’t matter if she wasn’t wearing a wedding gown or makeup, she would look equally as attractive, and this was particularly true when she got angry. The way she looked at him with a ruddy complexion when she was mad was enough to make him fall head over heels for her...
  • It was definitely a moment worth remembering. This woman, is my wife.
  • The woman who could do whatever she wanted to him, and vice versa.
  • The heat and gentleness of her hands were distinct when he tightened his palm. It was as if her body was close to his as the temperature made him feel comfort he never felt before. For the first time ever, Pei Shaoyu began to look forward to the day of their marriage. With her by his side, his life would definitely not be boring.
  • “Do you remember now?” His voice was hoarse. Pei Shaoyu lowered his head to get closer to her, compelling the photographer to move even faster.
  • He let go of He Nian but kept his guard up in fear of being slapped by her. He didn’t want to be humiliated, but her eyes sparkled with mischief.
  • “Pei Shaoyu, you rascal!” He Nian finally managed to breathe, yet realized straight after that she was subdued by him. Her dazzling eyes glared at him, and the only thing that came out of her mouth was that ineffective insult. Pei Shaoyu let out a laugh at her puny excuse of an insult.
  • “But, honey, I love being your rascal.”
  • When it was time to change the scenery of the wedding photos, He Nian still held on to her resentment. She kept thinking of ways to get revenge on Pei Shaoyu.
  • Coincidentally, she heard Pei Shaoyu reserving a spot at a restaurant when she came out of the dressing room, “Two people, one private room.”
  • She smirked. With a coy look on her face, she said to Pei Shaoyu, who was still on the phone, “Darling, I want to go to Hotel Royale. Can you bring me there? We haven’t been there for so long.”
  • Hotel Royale?
  • The staff assisting them couldn’t help but hold their breaths at the mention of Hotel Royale.
  • Even though the Pei family of Jiang Cheng was one of the wealthiest families around, they had a reputation for adhering to an extremely strict code when it came to the education of their descendants. The young masters of the Pei family were all self-reliant. And even if they worked in the Pei Corporation, they earned their wages as a normal employee would without playing any favorites. As for Pei Shaoyu, he had never joined the Pei Corporation, coupled with his young age, how would he be able to afford a meal at Hotel Royale?
  • Pei Shaoyu turned to look over his shoulder as soon as the phone call had ended. He saw He Nian flaunting a slick smile - a smile that implied she was waiting for him to demean himself. He pursed his lips and quirked his eyebrows but didn’t say a word.
  • He Nian pouted her lips and fawned over him, “Darling, I know Hotel Royale is expensive, but we’re only getting married once. Let’s go, okay?”
  • Only getting married once?
  • He Nian’s original intention was to play with Pei Shaoyu, but she didn’t want to unwittingly hurt him while she was joking around.
  • He fixed his eyes on her and said, “I’ve already booked Hotel Royale, I’ll bring you there after this.”
  • Huh?
  • He Nian froze with her smile still hanging on her face. Pei Shaoyu bent down and whispered in her ear, “Seems like you have quite a big appetite, little wildcat.”
  • Hotel Royale? Quite daring of her to bring it up so casually.
  • Meanwhile, He Nian’s smile was still unabated when she returned to her senses. “Thank you for exaggerating, swollen-faced fatty!” Her witty response gave off an appealing impression.
  • Let’s see what you’re going to do when we reach Hotel Royale.
  • ...
  • Fatigue crept up on He Nian by the time she got to the last set of dresses.
  • She never thought a wedding photoshoot would be so tiring. The fact that she was two months pregnant didn’t help either.
  • All of a sudden, she felt a scorching temperature enveloping her waist. Pei Shaoyu had wrapped his arm around her as she snuggled naturally in his embrace, catching whiffs of his cologne wafting through the air. She never expected Pei Shaoyu to be able to take care of her, but now, she felt like she didn’t understand him well enough.
  • A classic combination of black and red, together with He Nian’s allure and Pei Shaoyu’s grandeur, blended flawlessly. Every pose they struck was of unparalleled synergy, so much so it left the photographer awestruck. Just a while ago, they hated each other like enemies, but in the blink of an eye, they became soulmates.
  • As for Pei Shaoyu, who was a living rumor in T city, when had he ever felt such gentleness before?
  • “I’ll bring you back to the family mansion after dinner tonight, it’s about time you met with the Pei family,” Pei Shaoyu spoke softly.
