• I opened my eyes, listening for the announcement of the next stop. I pulled the bell and stood up, waiting for the shuttle bus to come to a halt. Adjusting my backpack and making sure my hat covered my ears, I braced myself for the walk home.
• It had been a long, exhausting day at the café, and all I wanted was to get home. I yearned to hold my daughter and finally put my feet up. My feet throbbed, and I could only imagine how they would feel once I slipped out of these uncomfortable shoes.
