• Their gifted wives never revealed to their husbands how they had escaped from their homes. They never mentioned how I had rushed in to rescue them, or at least as many as I could. Aeg, Laz, and Toz got caught when the roof caved in on them. By the time everyone had gathered to put out the fire, they had tragically lost three of their sister wives. With three sisters in need of medical care, it was Tylfine, Lorduc's cherished wife, who managed to pull herself together from her shock and got Zorlay, Liva, and Jiri to the infirmary.
