• He stood outside the garage. The door was closed. He didn’t remember it ever being closed before. He looked at the door and wondered if he was supposed to go and knock or just wait. Liri said they’d know he was here before he reached the building.
• The garage door went up slowly. Ava stood there with her arms crossed over her chest, looking at him. “I debated on seeing how long you’d wait, but I have things to do.” She looked over her shoulder. “I’d ask who you’re here to talk to, but your lost puppy expression says it all.”
• He scowled at her. There was no way he’d be looking like that.
