Chapter 21 Where Did The Child Come From

  • Everyone was taken aback by what Cindy said.
  • Nora grabbed Elena's hand in admiration. “Is that true? Are you really an attending physician at General Hospital, which is one of the top hospitals? It must've been tough on you. When did that happen?”
  • Elena checked her father's expression as she nodded cautiously. “I just came back not too long ago.”
  • “David, look at your girls. They're both outstanding! Elena is a doctor now! It's not easy to practice medicine! Her mother would be proud of her.”
  • David was speechless.
  • David's cold face eventually softened up a little after knowing that Elena had properly gone to school and had a stable job.
  • He looked at Elena. At that time, his expression wasn't as gloomy as earlier. “You should always watch your words and actions since you have to deal with patients.”
  • Elena was shocked to be treated so kindly by him and quickly nodded. “I know, Dad. I'll be careful.”
  • “Wow! She's an adult now, but she's still so obedient!”
  • “That's right! Anyone would be blessed to have a daughter like Elena. I've liked her since she was a little girl.”
  • Cindy, who was at the side, joined in the conversation jokingly. “Elena's outstanding, but she's still single. Aunt Nora, Uncle Harold, you know many people, don't you? Why don't you introduce some guys to Elena?”
  • As enthusiastic as ever, Nora said, “It's true that most doctors are single. But given how outstanding Elena is, she can definitely find a good match! Don't worry! I'll handle it.”
  • No one noticed Elena's slightly awkward expression and David's knitted brows at that time.
  • When the atmosphere turned lively, a sweet voice sounded from beyond the crowd. “Mommy!”
  • Everyone was astonished to see a little figure in pink trotting toward Elena and hugged the latter. The little girl's cheeks were red as she panted. “Mommy! I finally found you!”
  • Elena's expression changed as she hugged Sevyn.
  • What is Sevyn doing here?
  • Everyone looked at one another as they were stunned to hear Sevyn call Elena “Mommy.”
  • “Who is this girl? Where did she come from?”
  • “I guess she's Elena's daughter? Huh? But isn't Elena single?”
  • “Who is the father?”
  • Immediately, Elena turned around and looked at David. She broke out in cold sweat when she saw David's darkened expression.
  • Back then, David cut off all ties with her and kicked her out of the Truman family because she got pregnant before marriage and insisted on keeping the child. After that, David fell sick out of anger.
  • “Elena, is this the surprise present you told me about?” Cindy said unhappily with an upset look.
  • In an instant, Elena knew what was going on. So that's why Cindy asked me to come. I knew she wouldn't be so kind to give me a chance to make up with Dad! I never expected her to hate me so much that she would embarrass me in front of all our relatives and friends without considering our family's reputation!
  • Suddenly, an unknown man's voice was heard. “Ms. Elena Truman?”
  • He squeezed his way through the crowd. The man had an average build and look. He wore a green vest from a delivery company and a cap.
  • Elena was stunned, and everyone had their eyes on her. Then, she put Sevyn down and straightened her back. “I'm Elena.”
  • “Great. Here's a parcel for you. Please sign here.” With that, the delivery man took out a thick envelope from his bag and handed it to her.
  • Before Elena had the chance to take it, someone reached out and snatched the envelope away. “I wonder what kind of mail it is that you had to send it here. Let me see!”
  • At that time, Cindy had already snatched the envelope away and torn the seal in front of everyone.
  • She appeared startled as all the pictures flew out of the envelope like snowflakes.
  • Obviously, she didn't expect the envelope to be torn so easily.
  • Out of all those photos which flew out from the envelope, two landed in front of Elena. Her eyes widened, and her face turned pale when she saw a part of the photograph.
