Chapter 13 Two Little Monkeys

  • “You'd better explain things to me right now. What on earth is going on?”
  • The first thing Elena did upon calming down was to call Isaac and find out what had happened.
  • The man had sworn that he wouldn't go around picking up girls while she was there and that he would prioritize caring for the children until the procedures in Moranta were completed.
  • “They took my phone and booked the plane tickets with it.”
  • “And where were you? Did you go pick up some chicks again? You didn't even realize the kids took your phone?”
  • “I'm the victim here, Elena! I just woke up two hours ago. Can you believe that? Those two little brats gave me a sleeping pill, and I ended up sleeping the whole day, only to wake up to more than ten missed calls from the hospital! I'm currently wearing my pants and about to head over there!”
  • Hearing that, Elena poked the little girl next to her. “You drugged Isaac?” she hissed.
  • While munching on a peach, Sevyn merely gazed at her with the most innocent pair of eyes, shook her head innocently, and licked the juices on the side of her lips. “What drug?”
  • It was definitely her.
  • The woman knew her daughter too well. She acts better than the best Oscar-winning actresses out there!
  • “Are the two little monkeys okay?” asked Isaac as he prepared to head out after putting his pants on.
  • “They're fine. I'm with them now. I wouldn't have called you otherwise.”
  • “I'll talk to you later. The director's going to kill me if I don't get there now.”
  • “Wait! When are you coming back?” Elena glanced at the two children while rubbing her temples before sneaking her way to the other side to grab a drink. “I can't handle them on my own.”
  • “Seriously, Elena? They are your kids! Yet, I'm the one changing their diapers all along? What am I, your nanny? Don't you have any maternal love?”
  • “Who cares about that?” Elena leaned against the counter. “In any case, I can't manage them. They pretty much grew up with you. Come here soon, or I'll be the one dead.”
  • “Then just die! What did I do to deserve all this?”
  • Despite his complaints, Isaac was still worried about how Elena would care for the children. “I'm still busy with some hospital paperwork, but I'll try to be quick. I can look after the kids as long as they don't get in my way of romancing the women. Oh, by the way...”
  • The man continued, “Aren't you planning to let them meet their father now that you're back?”
  • Elena stopped drinking her water for a moment. “I've already met him at the hospital.”
  • Back in the living room, Sevyn had just finished an entire peach on her own. With a full stomach, she then slid off the couch onto the floor mat before crawling her way over to Hendrix, who was in the middle of a game.
  • “Hex—”
  • “Don't rub your hands on me. Go wash them in the kitchen,” the boy responded blandly without even turning around.
  • “Boo.” Having been seen through, Sevyn pouted and walked toward the kitchen.
  • As soon as she arrived at the door, she heard Elena's voice.
  • “He doesn't know about Hendrix and Sevyn, but there's no point telling him about them. It's been so many years. Besides, he's getting married early next month.”
  • He? Who's that? Is it Daddy?
  • Sevyn's eyes lit up as she moved closer and continued to eavesdrop through the door crack.
  • “It's all in the past now. He's doing pretty well.”
