Chapter 10 Causing A Commotion

  • Even Elena's students realized something was off as the situation was extremely awkward. They promptly murmured among themselves.
  • “Sure. I'll be there.” Elena gazed at Raphael calmly.
  • He insists that I go so he can vent his anger. I shall play along with him, then.
  • Their eyes met, and Raphael's gaze turned frosty.
  • Elena had caved in, but he wasn't pleased about it.
  • On the contrary, his displeasure merely intensified when he saw how cool and composed she was.
  • “Where is Elena Truman?” A sharp voice reverberated at the other end of the hospital's corridor.
  • “Where is Elena Truman!”
  • Everyone turned in the direction of the voice and saw a plump middle-aged woman striding out of the elevator furiously. She was carrying a limited edition Hermès handbag.
  • Her fury intensified when she spotted Elena. Storming over, she pointed at Elena and yelled, “You're Elena Truman, right? The homewrecker!”
  • A deep line appeared in the middle of Elena's brows. “Who are you?”
  • Slap!
  • A tight slap landed on her cheek, forcing her to swallow her remaining words. Her students gasped in horror and fell silent.
  • Elena's head snapped aside from the force. The burning pain on her cheek reminded her that she wasn't dreaming. She stared at the middle-aged woman who had appeared out of nowhere incredulously. What is she getting about? I don't even know her!
  • The woman spat, “You're nothing but a b*tch and a homewrecker. How dare you seduce my husband?”
  • She raised her hand to give Elena another slap.
  • Before she could do so, Raphael took a step forward.
  • Vanessa's gaze turned dark when she realized what he was about to do. She clung to him fearfully and stopped him from advancing. “Raphael...”
  • Fortunately, Elena was quick enough to grab the woman's hand before she got slapped yet again. Calmly, she asked, “Did you get the wrong person? I don't know who you are.”
  • “Of course, you don't know me! But I know you, Elena Truman. You might be wearing a white coat, but that can't hide the fact that you're a b*tch! I slapped the right person!” she exclaimed.
  • Suddenly, someone said, “I think she's Mr. Terrence Quick's wife. He was admitted to the VIP ward some time ago.”
  • “Hear that? They know who I am, but you are ignorant enough to seduce someone else's husband. How despicable!”
  • Elena frowned. “Mrs. Quick, do you have evidence to prove your claims? I'm innocent and never did anything of the sort.”
  • “Evidence?” Terrence's wife, Jasmine, snorted and flung Elena's hand away. “You're an attending physician at the hospital, so I won't dare to make a fuss if I don't have any evidence. People are watching, so I shall let them see how despicable you are!”
  • She fished her phone out of her bag and played a video. “Look, is this Dr. Truman?” she yelled.
  • The video showed Terrence holding Elena's hand and flirting with her. Elena didn't reject his advances.
  • A collective gasp rose among the onlookers as Elena scowled at the video.
  • She remembered the incident clearly. Terrence had just been admitted to the hospital, so she didn't dodge his advances as she was busy jabbing the needle into his vein.
