Chapter 16 Forbidden Flames

• The full moon produced long shadows over the woodland that moved in the night like ghosts. Olivia stepped gingerly, the dark symphony of the wild thumping in time with her heart. Every leaf rustle and far-off howl sent chills down her spine because her senses were sharpened. Though a nagging instinct had brought her here, she knew she shouldn't have entered the cursed forest.
• Breath stuck in Olivia's throat as a low growl sounded through the shadows. Glow-in-the-dark eyes moved in with a predatory grace. Her fingers, prepared to defend herself, clenched around the little herbal purse she always carried.
• Olivia yelled through the forest as the stray wolf charged. But a whirl of strength and fur stopped the thing before it could get to her. In a vicious struggle of claws and snarls, the two wolves engaged. Olivia stood there in astonished quiet as her enigmatic rescuer fiercely fought the outlaw.
