Chapter 4

  • Ray drove and parked the car beside Billy.
  • "Young master, your grandfather wants you and him to have dinner with the CEO of GB this evening," Ray said to Billy the moment he entered the car.
  • Billy looked depressed instantly.
  • "Again!" he exclaimed, frustrated.
  • "I don't know why Grandfather wants me to get closer to that old man. Last time, the old man was just talking about his granddaughter. I didn't feel happy," Billy said and looked away angrily.
  • ***
  • That evening, Billy and his grandfather met with the CEO of GB—CEO Moon, who was accompanied by his granddaughter, Sandra Moon.
  • When Billy and his grandfather came into the restaurant, CEO Moon smiled.
  • "Billy, come and sit beside Sandra," CEO Moon said, pointing to the seat beside his granddaughter.
  • Billy could not reject, so he sluggishly sat beside Sandra. Sandra immediately smiled and greeted Billy.
  • "Billy, I didn't know that I would see you so soon. When I heard that you went abroad, I cried for weeks. I told my grandfather that I wanted to follow you, but he didn’t allow me."
  • Billy stared at Sandra as if he had just seen an idiot but did not answer her.
  • When Billy was still in New York at age four, Sandra always came to Billy's house to play with him. She had a crush on him since childhood, and after Billy went abroad, she held him in her heart.
  • "Sandra was just being childish then," CEO Moon said, laughing.
  • "Old Moon, let's eat before the food gets cold," Billy's grandfather said, and they started eating. But CEO Moon continued to talk.
  • "Your grandson is so capable. Within one month, he surprised everyone with his success."
  • "He is my grandson. How would he not be capable?" Billy's grandfather replied, smiling as he looked at Billy with pride.
  • "He’s capable, and he’s also handsome," Sandra added, glancing at Billy. The old men laughed heartily.
  • Billy did not say anything and continued eating.
  • "Billy, why don't you attend Durim Group of Schools?" Sandra asked with a sad face.
  • "I thought you would come to our school."
  • Billy's grandfather cleared his throat and answered,
  • "Sandra, Billy wants to be comfortable studying while working without being disturbed."
  • "He would also be comfortable in our school. I would personally make him feel comfortable,” Sandra said, placing her hand on her chest as if pledging.
  • "That's okay, let's forget about that and eat," Sandra's grandfather said as they continued eating.
  • After dinner with CEO Moon and Sandra left, Billy looked tired when they got back home because he could not be himself at the dinner. He was just eating since he did not want to say anything, thereby forcing himself to smile when he didn’t want to smile.
  • His cheeks seemed to be paining him from smiling forcefully. He lay down on the bed and searched for Betty's number on his phone. He wanted to call, but looking at the time, he did not want to disturb her since it was already late at night.
  • So, he sent her a text:
  • "Hi, I want to call you, but it is already late. See you tomorrow ♥️♥️♥️." He sent the text to Betty, smiled, then slept.
  • The next day at Betty's house, she woke up to see a message on her phone. She checked the text, but since she didn't know the number, she just stared at the message. But she soon remembered that she had given her number to Billy yesterday, so she hissed and deleted the text.
  • When they got to school that morning, Billy smiled, thinking of the text he had sent. So, he asked Betty he moment he saw her,
  • "Did you see my text?"
  • Betty looked at him with anger because it seemed Billy would start disturbing her again.
  • "I don't think so," Betty replied, not looking at Billy.
  • Billy was surprised since he had sent her a text.
  • "I sent you a text last night. How come you didn't see it?" Billy asked.
  • Betty looked at him as if she were looking at a fool.
  • "I told you I didn't see it," she replied nonchalantly.
  • Billy seemed to understand what Betty meant.
  • "Let me have your phone, and I will check," he stretched his hand to collect Betty's phone from her.
  • "Why would you check my phone? This is my property," Betty said angrily.
  • But Billy suddenly stood up and leaned towards Betty to collect her phone. Betty was shocked to see Billy leaning towards her, so she moved back and quickly raised the phone up. But Billy further stretched his hands to take the phone by force, which made him lean more towards Betty, and their bodies were almost touching.
  • Seeing this, Betty felt butterflies inside her, and her face grew hot.
  • She looked nervous.
  • When Billy saw that Betty looked nervous because of him for the first time, he smiled inwardly and continued maintaining the position to tease her more.
  • As they both stared into each other's eyes, lost in the moment, one of the guys in the class exclaimed,
  • "Whoa! What are you guys doing?" The students’ attention was draw to them and the boys laughed.
  • Betty jolted immediately, realizing she had been staring into Billy's eyes. She felt embarrassed, pushed Billy away, then ran out of the class hastily.
  • Billy looked at his classmates laughing, and he roared at them.
  • "What is funny?" He quickly followed Betty out because he discovered that she felt embarrassed. Billy saw Betty standing at the back of the class building and walked to her.
  • Betty looked really embarrassed and angry at the same time.
  • "I really didn't mean to make you embarrassed," Billy said, looking sorry.
  • "I just wanted to check the phone since I sent the text last night," he moves slowly towards her.
  • "I deleted the text. Are you satisfied now?" She shouts at him, breathing heavily as if she would cry.
  • They were both quiet for some time before Betty suddenly asked with a straight face,
  • "What do you actually want from me?" She looked at Billy, feeling threatened.
  • "Be my friend," he replied instantly, as if he had been waiting for her to ask. He has been looking for every means to get closer to her and the chance came.
  • "Why should I be friends with you?" Betty questioned him as if he was a thief.
  • "I told you; you just caught my interest. Let's be friends," Billy looked into Betty's eyes, smiling.
  • Betty stared at Billy for some time and sighed, then she left.
  • "You agreed to be friends with me, right?" Billy shouted after her and beamed happily.
  • "Yes," he said happily, because he believes her silent means yes.
