Chapter 7 No One Can Show Off Before Me

  • Anya had had enough of everyone looking down on her.
  • The whispers from Shana and the others in the room had finally become the last straw.
  • Even her grandfather's words lost their importance.
  • Anya's face was expressionless as she looked at Damon, who seemed like a clown.
  • She mocked, "If you raise a dog, at least it knows how to be grateful.
  • "My family took care of you for three years, but you show no gratitude and bring disaster upon us.
  • "Damon, I've had enough. I can't take it anymore.
  • "Either you bow and apologise to Mr. Long or we get a divorce."
  • Divorce?
  • Damon's head snapped up. In three years, those were the words he feared most.
  • But this time, he laughed.
  • Anya was willing to divorce him for the sake of a man who wanted to insult her own husband.
  • "Do you remember fifteen years ago—"
  • Damon didn't answer her directly but chose to ask a question instead.
  • For three years, this was the answer he sought.
  • Before he could finish, Anya waved her hand to cut him off.
  • Her voice filled with impatience as she stated, "I've told you hundreds of times, the person you met fifteen years ago wasn't me!
  • "Damon, if you think you can use this lousy excuse to talk about some fate between us, then sorry, you make me sick!"
  • Her remark made Damon feel his heart sink once more.
  • He had grown tired.
  • Damon was hurt, too.
  • He chose not to persist any longer.
  • "Then, let's get divorced."
  • "Divorce?"
  • "This freeloading good-for-nothing agreed to a divorce?"
  • "Ptff!"
  • The room erupted in whispers as all eyes turned to Damon.
  • Anya hadn't expected Damon to be so decisive.
  • She grew restless and wondered. Where did this sudden confidence come from?
  • "You agreed to a divorce?"
  • Anya asked in surprise, as if she couldn't believe her ears.
  • This worthless leech, who had stubbornly stayed by her side, actually agreed to a divorce?
  • But this time, Damon's voice was unusually firm.
  • "In three years, I worked like a servant in the Anson household. Did I ever complain?
  • "Did I ever try to touch you since the day we married?"
  • "Actually, I know you've long been tired and disgusted with me.
  • "So, let's get divorced."
  • Damon felt as though a heavy stone was blocking his chest, making it difficult to breathe.
  • Three years of effort had led to this outcome.
  • Anya sneered coldly, still looking down on him.
  • "You married into my family. What's wrong with doing some housework? Did you expect to be dressed in a suit and become a breadwinner?
  • "Damon, wake up! You're a loser! A worthless loser!
  • "Your only value is staying home and doing servant's work to show whatever little worth you have!"
  • It turned out, he was worth nothing in her heart.
  • Damon smiled bitterly. He took a deep breath and said, "Anya, do you know, with just one word from me—"
  • He paused, then continued, "You could soar and become the most powerful woman in the world. Enjoy the most prestigious life!
  • "But in the end, you're just not worthy!"
  • With that, Damon didn't bother wasting any more words and wanted to leave.
  • There was no need to stay where he was unwelcome.
  • He barely took a few steps when Morris's furious shout came from behind.
  • "Stop right there, you piece of tr*sh! Did I say you could leave?"
  • As he spoke, he slammed his hand on the table and coldly ordered, "If you dare walk out that door, Butch won't just stop by crippling your arm when he gets here!
  • "Unless—"
  • Morris's wicked smile shifted to Anya. He cast a malicious gaze at her, rubbing his chin, and spoke slowly, "Unless you kneel before me and watch as I claim her innocence!
  • "Hahaha!"
  • "Mr. Long, you're quite something!"
  • The room erupted in wild laughter. Everyone in the room looked smug.
  • Anya's face turned a shade of red. She even showed a hint of shyness.
  • Damon looked coldly at the crowd, but their behaviour was nothing compared to the look in Anya's eyes towards Morris that pained him.
  • Flirting, yet retreating.
  • "Haha!"
  • Damon chuckled softly, then he continued to walk towards the door.
  • He was two meters from the door when someone violently kicked it open with a loud bang.
  • A burly, scar-faced man entered the room, accompanied by a group. He shouted thunderously.
  • "Who the hell is having a death wish and having the balls to mess with my buddy?
  • "Today, I'll make sure to break his arm!"
  • Swoosh!
  • Everyone's eyes fell on Damon.
  • Morris wore an arrogant look and said smugly, "Kid, I already told you that you can't walk out of here."
  • Butch cracked his neck. First, he extended his hand to Morris and made a gesture asking for money. After he received a confirmation from Morris, he turned his fierce gaze back to Damon. Butch instructed his men, "You guys, drag him out and break his arm. After that, toss him on the street."
  • Everyone knew Damon was finished.
  • Butch was a thug, and he always followed through with his words. He wouldn't joke about breaking someone's arm.
  • There were people in this world that Damon, a man with no background, simply couldn't afford to offend.
  • "Break my arm?"
  • Damon didn't get angry, but instead laughed. He stretched lazily and looked at Butch with amusement. He declared, "I will eliminate your family if you dare to touch a hair on my head!"
  • Butch was shocked, but then he laughed too, as if he were staring at a fool.
  • "Wipe out my family? Who do you think you are? The king of the world?"
  • The room burst into laughter.
  • To them, Damon was just bluffing again.
  • Damon's face turned cold, and a glint of killing intent flashed in his eyes.
  • The atmosphere in the room turn cold. Everyone shuddered as the look sent shivers down everyone's spine.
  • Damon looked at Butch and his men. He spoke loudly, "On this land beneath your feet, I am the supreme god!"
  • He exuded an aura of invincibility that was comparable to that of a raging lion.
  • This was a display of true power!
  • He had reached the three-year limit and no longer needed to endure. With a snap of his fingers, Damon could easily obliterate these thugs before him.
  • The room fell silent for a moment, only to be overtaken by laughter again!
  • "Haha! Kid, do you even think before you brag?" Butch laughed so hard that he almost cried. He continued to ridicule, "With that scrawny body of yours, you dare to call yourself a god? Bluffing in front of me, you're still too green!"
  • Damon challenged, "You can try."
  • "Alright, since you want to die, I'll be merciful and grant your wish." With that, Butch's men darted toward Damon.
  • Everyone wore ruthless smiles on their faces.
  • The atmosphere grew tense, and bloodshed was imminent.
  • Meanwhile, less than a kilometer away, a convoy of Vulture Squad vehicles with special plates was heading straight for Sin Club.
  • ...
