Chapter 12 The Emergence of a Notable Individual in Cracsa

  • At the threshold of the police headquarters.
  • "How dare you arrest members of the Vulture Squad?"
  • The doors to the headquarters were flung open with force as the Vulture Squad members barged in.
  • "No one inside dared to make a move!
  • "Everyone stepped back!"
  • Milo entered with a calm demeanour, his face as expressionless as iron.
  • "Who's in charge here?" he demanded.
  • "Come out this instant!
  • "Do you think I can't reduce this place to rubble with a single shot?"
  • His voice prompted several deputy chiefs to hurriedly come forward to meet him.
  • Another notable person had made an appearance!
  • Captain Logan was petrified, nearly panicking.
  • As a mere team leader at the station, he needed to prepare for such an event.
  • Clearly, he was in for a rough night!
  • "Good day, I am ... "
  • Director Copper began, only to be abruptly sidestepped by Milo.
  • He proceeded straight to Damon, giving him a formal salute.
  • Encountering his idol once more, Milo was a mix of nerves and thrill, as always!
  • In this man's company, known as the unbeaten War God of Cruice, everyone felt a sense of discomfort and strangeness!
  • Such an unexpected meeting seemed surreal!
  • "You haven't changed at all, young man."
  • That single statement turned Milo, previously brimming with bravery, suddenly emotional.
  • Three years had elapsed.
  • Damon had disappeared, leaving Milo thinking they'd never meet again.
  • Now reunited, Milo was overwhelmed with emotions, unsure how to express himself.
  • Ultimately, Milo stood firm and saluted once more!
  • Following Damon's lead, the Vulture Squad members also saluted in unison, showing their respect towards Milo!
  • It was the most fitting manner for the members of the Vulture Squad to exchange greetings.
  • Damon gave Milo's shoulder a gentle pat.
  • Then, he turned his gaze towards Director Copper, who seemed noticeably pale next to him, remarking, "Make sure your team members are on their best behaviour!"
  • Director Copper, eager not to upset such an important person, nodded vigorously.
  • The tension at the police station visibly dissipated after Damon and his companions departed.
  • "There's not much time left; Drago is nearly at the airport. Should we hurry over now?" Milo wondered aloud.
  • Milo noted the time, relieved that they were still on track. Damon made a notable gesture towards his head, declaring, "There's something urgent I need to deal with.
  • "I'll leave Drago's welcoming to you guys."
  • "What?" At first, Milo was caught off guard, but then he asked, "What's so urgent?"
  • "I left my electric bike at the club entrance," Damon uttered his concern.
  • He expressed his frustration, "It's like thieves are lurking around every corner nowadays."
  • Milo was at a loss for words.
  • Another member of the Vulture Squad was also there.
  • A wry smile formed on Milo's face.
  • The dilemma of explaining this to Drago later crossed his mind. Would he really have to say it?
  • That the Undefeated War God had to skip the airport greeting to fetch his electric bike?
  • "Oh, wait!" Milo was just about to call out after Damon when he realised he had disappeared into the night's shadow.
  • With a sigh of resignation, Milo declared, "Let's head to the airport for Drago's welcome."
  • Once Damon had his electric bike back, his instincts led him straight to the Ansons' main gate.
  • Looking back at the villa where he had spent three years, Damon was overwhelmed with feelings. At his core, he couldn't help but feel nostalgic.
  • Oh, Old Mr. Anson, once a towering figure, now your heirs grow ever more ambitious and reckless!
  • The Anson family's dreams of restoring their past grandeur seem impossible today!
  • Damon wished to return inside to retrieve something crucial but discovered none of the Ansons were around.
  • Even after residing with the Ansons for three years, he didn't have a key to his own door.
  • With a shake of his head, he walked away.
  • In the bustling lanes of Cracsa, a parade of formidable Vulture Squad conveyances thundered by, capturing the attention of onlookers who mused over the notable arrival in their city.
  • At the same time, a procession of sleek new Audis bearing the Anson family members made a grand entrance onto the main street towards the Halcyon Hotel, exuding an air of importance.
  • Delilah Rochester, surrounded by Audis, couldn't contain her excitement, remarking, "It's been ages since we've had such a splendid caravan, especially after the Ansons faded."
  • "Don't worry, Mom, with Sebastian back, we're bound to have many more chances to shine," Yvonne Anson replied, her eyes gleaming with admiration for Sebastian Jenkins, seated next to the driver.
  • She was eager to be close to him.
  • Sebastian, catching her gaze from the front, dismissed her informality with a wave of his hand, maintaining a gentlemanly facade despite his pleasure, "Well, until Anya and I are officially done, I'm not really an Anson."
  • Delilah bristled at the mention, her distaste for Damon only deepened by the comparison to Sebastian.
  • She openly expressed, "Sebastian! I know your intention. Don't worry. I'll promptly ensure Anya is free from that good-for-nothing. Soon, you'll be able to marry Anya rightfully, and we'll become one big family."
  • Sebastian managed a quick smile, adding, "Ultimately, it's up to how Anya feels."
  • However, everyone inside the vehicle was well aware that Sebastian's future as the Ansons' son-in-law was practically sealed.
  • As they reached the Halcyon Hotel's entrance, the Ansons didn't hesitate to compliment Sebastian on his bright prospects.
  • Just as they were about to enter the hotel, Damon suddenly froze.
  • A voice he knew all too well, a presence familiar yet distant.
  • After three years spent side by side, day in and day out, he realised he felt nothing.
  • "Mom, is that person over there Damon?" Yvonne, with her keen observation, noticed Damon amidst the crowd.
  • As Sebastian approached, ready to lay eyes on what Delilah had dismissively called a complete waste of space, she scoffed, "That so-called waste dares to set foot in such a prestigious place? He couldn't cover the cost of cleaning the carpet he treads on."
  • Hearing this only inflated Sebastian's pride further.
  • Suppose this man was as insignificant as Delilah claimed. How could he even dream of entering such a luxurious hotel?
  • Yvonne, meanwhile, couldn't tear her gaze away from the person before her.
  • Over the last three years, Damon had troubled her repeatedly, and she was sure she wasn't mistaken about his identity.
  • The more she observed, the more precise the recognition became. Overwhelmed, she finally made her way towards Damon.
  • Damon halted abruptly, their gazes locking.
  • Yvonne couldn't help but laugh and called out, "Mom! Look, it's really Damon! He sneaked in here behind everyone's back to splurge!"
  • Delilah's eyes caught sight of Damon, and instantly, her expression soured as she exclaimed, "What a bad luck!"
  • Observing Damon's worn-out look, Yvonne mocked, "How did you show up at the Halcyon Hotel?"
  • Before Damon had a chance to respond, a realisation struck Yvonne, and she blurted out, "Ah, I get it—you must have been tailing us! Trying to mooch off here, aren't you?"
  • Sebastian's eyes scanned Damon from head to toe, his contempt clear. How could this simpleton ever compare to him?
  • Before returning to the country, he had harboured concerns that Anya's husband might pose a significant obstacle in pursuing Anya, fearing the man's remarkable qualities. However, upon looking at Damon, he quickly dismissed these thoughts as needless worry.
  • Fury coursed through Delilah as she accused Damon, jabbing a finger at his nose. "What use are you roaming about instead of managing the household duties? Do you know the price of a meal here or who the patrons' are? You've disgraced the Ansons' name!"
  • And so, Damon found himself degraded and pushed into the mud once more.
  • This sequence of events had become a familiar script, replaying countless times over three years.
  • "Mom, why do we even let him come back to care for the house?"
  • Yvonne glanced towards the arrogant Sebastian and said, "My sister's betrothed is here for their wedding arrangements. Let's kick him out quickly."
  • Betrothed?
  • Throughout the past three years, Yvonne had never called him like that.
  • Suddenly, Damon's eyes found Sebastian amid the gathering.
  • The one face he didn't recognise.
  • He understood then.
  • This was the exceptional son-in-law that Delilah had been praising all this time!
  • Ha—
  • For over three years now.
  • It seemed as though he had grown numb to it.
  • Having studied overseas, coming from a family of considerable wealth.
  • Sebastian, the Jenkins' eldest son, had a unique affection for Anya.
  • However, to Damon, these accolades meant nothing!
  • He possessed wealth comparable to that of an entire country!
  • This Sebastian Jenkins, just how valuable could he be?
