Chapter 4 I Can Give You a Box Full

  • "Anya, if you like it, I can give you a box full of rings ten times bigger than this one!"
  • A sudden, arrogant voice interrupted the gathering.
  • Everyone was shocked at the declaration.
  • Ten times bigger?
  • A whole box?
  • Who had the nerve to boast so outrageously?
  • "Oh!"
  • All eyes shifted to the direction of the voice.
  • They saw a man who, though not particularly tall, had an imposing presence. He was striding confidently into the room.
  • For a moment, the room fell silent.
  • One second.
  • Two seconds.
  • Three seconds ...
  • ...
  • The sound of mocking laughter broke the spell after three full seconds.
  • "I was wondering who would make such a bold claim. It turns out it's just a lowly delivery guy!"
  • "He's practically a king in his imagination; what does he have to fear? Hahaha ... "
  • Inside the private room, the two played off each other, and everyone burst into laughter.
  • Laughter instantly replaced the previously tense atmosphere.
  • Shana barely contained her laughter. She gestured with her lips toward Anya and said, mockingly, "Hey Anya, look who just walked in."
  • Hearing these words and seeing Damon in his delivery uniform, Anya felt her face burn with embarrassment.
  • She felt utterly disgraced.
  • "Ms. Anson, he's offering to buy you a box of diamond rings. How romantic and manly! Hahaha!"
  • Shana laughed so hard she nearly fell over; her movements were exaggerated.
  • Anya's expression darkened further. The look in her eyes also turned cold.
  • "You just spout off without thinking. Do you know how much that diamond ring in Mr. Long's hand is worth?" A blonde young man sneered, a toothpick dangling from his mouth as he eyed Damon sideways.
  • "Let me tell you this! Even if you deliver takeout for a lifetime, you wouldn't afford a fraction of it!
  • "A whole box? You think you are capable of that?"
  • Everyone in the room shook their heads and laughed scornfully at Damon.
  • Word had long since spread in their circle: Anya's husband was a live-in son-in-law who had lived off the Ansons' money for two years. The Ansons' lack of support forced him into becoming a deliveryman.
  • He was a complete and utter failure!
  • Damon's earlier display of bravado had now become a joke to everyone.
  • A diamond ring?
  • Haha!
  • He couldn't even afford a single dust particle!
  • "How did you know I was here?"
  • Anya questioned coldly, her brows furrowed.
  • Damon replied, "As long as I want to, I can find you no matter where you are."
  • "You're stalking me?"
  • Anya immediately caught on, her look of disdain growing more intense and her loathing for Damon deepening.
  • In the three years they had been together, Damon had grown accustomed to her attitude.
  • He had endured countless scornful looks and harsh words, again and again.
  • But today, that was about to change.
  • He had come here for a reason—to reveal the truth.
  • The three-year period was over, and he no longer needed to endure this humiliating life.
  • No one would look down on him any longer.
  • Damon stepped forward to embrace Anya, but she pushed him away forcefully.
  • He smiled wryly but remained patient. Damon said, "I'm here to tell you that I can solve all your problems. You don't have to suffer anymore."
  • The crowd erupted into laughter at his words again.
  • They looked like they had heard the funniest joke of their lives.
  • Is a live-in son-in-law actually claiming he could turn things around?
  • He was delusional!
  • "Help me?"
  • Anya scoffed coldly. She glared at Damon and chided, "Damon! Can you be grounded? Poverty isn't your fault, but pretending to be something you're not is disgusting!
  • "Your empty promises and grandiose lies won't make me see you any differently. They just show how useless you are!
  • "If it weren't for marrying you, my life would be ten, a hundred times better!"
  • Tears welled up in Anya's eyes as she spoke. She grew more frustrated, regretting ever listening to her grandfather and marrying this worthless man.
  • Her grandfather, Vergil Anson, had said Damon would one day rise to great heights, and she would become the most prestigious woman in the world.
  • Three years had passed, and Damon had brought nothing but endless humiliation.
  • "Haha! A box of diamond rings?"
  • Morris, who had been watching from the sidelines, sipped his wine and chuckled. He mocked, "You must be one of those rich kids experiencing life on the streets, right?"
  • Damon shook his head lightly.
  • "Or perhaps a long-lost heir, finally found by your wealthy family?" Morris teased.
  • Again, Damon shook his head.
  • "Hahaha ... "
  • Morris laughed again and asked, "If you're neither, then why are you pretending to be a big shot?
  • "Go change into some decent clothes, watch some TV, and learn how real rich kids act before you try to bluff your way through.
  • "Spouting off like that only makes you a laughingstock!"
  • Morris's words cut deep.
  • Even though his target was Damon, Anya couldn't stay calm.
  • She was so humiliated that she wanted to find a hole to crawl into!
  • This was the ultimate humiliation.
  • And it was all because of this worthless man!
  • But—
  • No one there would understand that Damon, dressed in cheap clothes, could genuinely afford a box of diamond rings.
  • To be exact, Damon was rich enough to buy almost everything in the world.
