• Shutting the door behind me gave a deep feeling of satisfaction. My new office smelled of lavender and leather. Warm sunlight seeped into the room through the windows, casting golden lines over the polished desk and walls. My lips curled into a small smile at the sight of my own mini bar with a bucket containing a bottle of champagne with ice all around it. A silent gesture from Leo, no doubt.
• Then Mia came in and instantly, we did our girls scream in excitement. Her eyes sparkled so much that I could tell she was genuinely happy for me. Her eyes twinkled like a child witnessing her first snowfall. “CEO Zara Smith,” she greeted dramatically with a bow. I laughed and pulled her into my embrace. “We did it, Mia!. We actually did it.”
