Chapter 19 Tangled In Lies

- I quickly ran to the window, my heart beating loudly like a drum, but there was no one in sight. All I noticed was the faint rustle of the leaves outside and the whisper of the wind. Was it just the wind, or was someone truly watching me? I trembled as I slammed the curtains shut and turned away. For the first time in years, I didn’t feel safe within the walls of my own home.
- The bourbon wasn’t enough to distract me. My mind couldn’t stop racing with possibilities. Had Mason taken the situation too lightly that he couldn’t notice the person looking into me? Or worse…had my parents begun to suspect me?
