- I sat on the awfully exhausting thin mattress I had been sleeping on for the past two weeks. Sleep had been impossible since Mrs Shane visited because I had been longing to get out of this shithole, and at the same time worried that she was getting suspicious about me.
- I had told a lie, but being stuck in here had not let me know how deep it sank into her or if she had gone digging to find the truth. Did she see through my lie?
