• The hum of the air conditioner was the only sound in my office as I relaxed in my chair, my fountain pen tapping rhythmically against the table. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that Elora was hiding something from me. She never joked with her jewelry, but she didn’t notice her pearl necklace fall off as she hurried off to continue her phone call. I wanted to follow her, but I had my own problems to deal with.
