Chapter 63

• Christmas evening, Nora sat alone in the dark, the new help, Maya already turned in for the night, and even though Nora knew Luca might not show up as she hadn’t seen him for three whole days now, she still sat there waiting for him.
• The whole Christmas day was spent doing nothing, she had woken up in a bad mood, feeling lonely and useless. before her parents passed, she used to spend the holidays in a happy mood, after they passed, work at the lab and Rose kept her away from feeling lonely, she would spend the whole day working and by evening, she would go out with Rose for fun and then the next morning, they would show up at Rose’s parent’s house and be fed the Christmas leftovers and get presents too.
• This year was the loneliest Christmas for her, not only was she in a foreign country, she didn’t have anyone she knew and Rose had not called her throughout the day either. she understood that Rose would be having fun and expecting her to do the same, that’s why she didn’t bother to call her, just sent her a Merry Christmas text which Rose had not even responded to. Everything was worse because Luca didn’t even show up, she tried calling him but he didn’t take her calls, and neither did he call back. The only person with her was still too awkward to hold a conversation with her and she was nothing like Maria who tried to talk to her once it hit six pm, she told her she was leaving because she had an outing with her friends, Nora didn’t stop her since she couldn’t let another person be bored just because she was unfortunate not to have anyone with her.
