Chapter 111

• Luca sat alone in another room inside his penthouse, he left the room he shared with Nora because she fell asleep and he didn’t want to disturb her. They spent the whole day together after the doctor left even though she had spent most part of the day sleeping due to the drug that was given to her. Thankfully, the doctor said she was okay and that all she needed to do was rest and also do a new scan to see how her legs were doing. Luca already looked into the health centers in Detroit and she had quite a number to choose from when she returns back home, she would do the scan there. He should have already made plans of sending her back home but he was stalling, waking up to her this morning proved to him that it would be harder for him to let her go than he was admitting to himself. When he woke up earlier, he watched her sleep with his heart in his eyes, not being able to love her back. Right, what a lie he had told himself. The realization that he had fallen for her too didn’t make it any easier to let her go. He didn’t want to let her go but remembering how scared she had been when he found her pulled him back to reality.
• He shook his head to clear his thoughts and scrolled through what Ted had sent to him earlier, it was funny that he now knew the face of his enemy and the crazy reason why she came for him. Claudia could easily fool anyone with how she looked, like an innocent vulnerable woman who could not hurt a fly, meanwhile, she was a serial killer who found joy in taking the lives of innocent people. He even got pictures of her sisters, Chiara and Caterina, Chiara was the one who sadly passed away, the same reason Claudia decided to come for him. He couldn’t bring himself to believe that she took her life because of him, she looked like she had her life together and was one of the best staff in her workplace, compared to Claudia, there were so many things about her on the internet but surprisingly, there was nothing about her death written, if she did take her life, there could have at least been a police report about it but so far, according to what his men have found out, there was nothing, it was as if it never happened. Nicho asked around about her from people who knew her but from what they sent, no one knew what happened to her. They only heard she passed away and the family wanted a private funeral which was only attended by the family. It was sketchy to him but he didn’t put much thought into it because that wasn’t his main focus, Claudia was who he had a bone to pick with, that’s why when Nicho and Ted had suggested picking up her other sister and grandmother, he had told them to leave them alone, he was nothing like Claudia, he wasn’t going to involve innocent people in their fight as she did.
• So far, there hasn’t been a move on her side, not even Carlos has made any move which means they both aren’t trying to leave, he hoped that they would keep it that way because he didn’t want to go out of the country to find them.
