Chapter 81

• I sigh in relief as I finally pull up to Shadowlands gate. It’s been a long two and a half hours but at least the last hour was a peaceful one. I honk the horn twice quickly as I know the wolf on duty and he’s quite the sleeper.
• He slowly rises to his feet, looking out the windows for whoever is disturbing his slumber. I wave as soon as he looks my way. He smiles and waves while mouthing a sorry. He turns the key to activate the motor and pushes the button that pulls the gate open. I wave in thanks and start pulling forward before the gate finishes. Colton stirs subtly as the Jeep starts moving again.
• “Take it slow, my brother. We’re about five minutes from the house.”
