Chapter 4

  • “I don’t think that’s how you tell–“
  • “I don’t give a fuck.” He cut Matteo off as he turned to me with a grim smile and said,” You seem familiar with death.”
  • I looked at the two men before me as my lips quirked in disbelief.
  • First it was Joshua, now him.
  • My bad luck really followed me everywhere.
  • I had always thought myself to be unlucky, but life was really showing me how far gone my luck had ran out.
  • “Why would you want me to be your wife?” I asked him.
  • “That’s not important. Do you want to live?” Matteo asked me as he released his grip on me and stepped back.
  • “Or rather…do you want Rosa to live?” He asked.
  • “You’re such a horrible person. Rosa is innocent!” I snapped angrily.
  • Why couldn’t they just leave her out of this.
  • “Her blood is on your hands. You have the chance to save her.” He said with intimidation z
  • “Fine.”
  • “I didn’t get that.” He said as I frowned at him and shouted, “Fine!. I’ll do it.”
  • “Get her ready, I need to finish up here.” He said to Matteo immediately.
  • “Sure.” Matteo replied and dragged me with him.
  • He shoved me into the front seat before starting the engine.
  • “He is not a bad guy.” Matteo stated as I scoffed.
  • “I didn’t say anything.”
  • “But I know you think it.” He said as he drove out of the abandoned building.
  • “He has plans to kill me, and if not me Rosa.” I reminded him.
  • “That’s just how he communicates.” He said as I squinted my eyes at him.
  • “What is this?” I asked in annoyance.
  • “Bad cop, good cop?” I asked him again as I watched his brows scrunch down.
  • “You’re no better, for your information.” I continued as I fastened my seatbelt.
  • “You’re right.” He said as he made a sharp turn.
  • “ It’s best you stay quiet now, before you piss me off.” He told me as I kept mute.
  • We arrived at a small cabin near the town’s elementary school.
  • I followed Matteo as he entered the cabin and led me to a room.
  • It looked normal, with nothing fancy.
  • “Here.” Matteo said as he threw a bag on me.
  • “Freshen up and wear these.” He ordered while I brought out the dress from the bag.
  • “That’s too short.” I commented.
  • “You better get used to it then.” He remarked as he slammed the door on his way out.
  • I flinched the bag on the bed angrily and went to freshen up.
  • At least, I wasn’t dead.
  • I came out of the room after putting on the undies I saw in the bag and then attempted to wear dress.
  • “I don’t need your help.” I snarled at him as he tried to zip the dress.
  • “Okay. Sign this.” He said as he dropped some paper work on the table.
  • “What’s that?” I asked in curiosity while I scrutinized his appearance. He had also freshened up and he looked dashing in his suit and tie.
  • Too bad he was an evil jerk.
  • “The contract.” He stated.
  • “When you sign that, you become my wife, for six months.” He explained as I gasped.
  • “Six months!”
  • “For six months I own you, you listen to me and do as I say.” He said indifferent towards my reaction.
  • “Not like I have a choice.” I said with a sigh as I signed all the pages of the document.
  • “Here.” I said returning his pen.
  • “Let’s go.” He ordered as I continued struggling with my zip.
  • “For fuck sakes.” I heard him mutter as he quickly zipped up my dress and walked out.
  • I rolled my eyes and released the curls from the rollers before running my hands through my thick hair.
  • I looked at myself in the mirror, but the sight of the bruise on my neck made me frown.
  • I quickly applied the makeup powder around my neck before clasping the necklace.
  • I am strong. I can survive this. It’s just one night.
  • I chanted in my head as I entered the car and they drove off.
  • The car ride felt like hours and hours on end.
  • We arrived at the entrance of a huge gate and he stretched out his hand through the window for a minute.
  • “You can drive.” He said to Matteo as he nodded.
  • He continued driving as the gate opened, and I stared in confusion.
  • “Where are you taking me to?” I asked them but they willingly chose to not respond.
  • “We’ve arrived.” Matteo stated as he drove into a huge driveway where a mansion stood in the middle.
  • It looked very beautiful and old. There were little gardens along the fountain and some statues situated at the corners of the walls.
  • For a second I forgot my dilemma, and appreciated the architecture in front of me.
  • There was something unnatural about the sky, but it was still night for sure, but the moon just seemed farther than usual.
  • I followed them quietly into the mansion and my mouth fell open as I entered.
  • There was so much light and artifacts.
  • Was he a collector or royalty?
  • I wondered as we passed a room filled with artworks.
  • I stared at every room with awe till I noticed my two kidnappers were looking at me crazily.
  • Well not everyone grew up rich, I thought to myself as I cleared my throat and composed myself.
  • “What are we doing here?” I asked them.
  • “This will be your home from now on.” He stated as my eyes widened in surprise.
  • “I can’t say alone with you here.” I blurted out.
  • “Why?. Are you scared?” He asked me with a smirk on his face.
  • “Seth.” heard a soft voice call.
  • “Nana.” He said as he walked up to the lady in grey hair and a black dinner gown.
  • How can a creep like him be answering Seth?
  • “What took you so long?” The lady asked him with a soft smile.
  • For an old lady she looked good. Her grey hair was tied in a bun and she held a sleek black walking stick on her right hand.
  • “Had business to attend to…I told you on the phone.” Seth stated as Matteo hugged the lady too.
  • “Oh, I am so forgetful.” She said with a smile as she turned to face me,” And who is this beautiful lady?” She asked.
  • “Nana, I want to officially introduce you to my wife, Candi.” He said as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to his side gently.
  • “Candi has always wanted to meet you…haven’t you Candi?” He added as he looked at me with those blue eyes of his that gleamed mischievously like the smile on his face.
  • You wouldn’t have guessed he tortured me few hours ago.
  • I anxiously swallowed the lump in my throat as I forced a smile.
