Chapter 3

  • The splash of water on my face made me conscious as my eyes popped open and I gasped for air.
  • I had been taken.
  • Kidnapped.
  • My eyes moved quickly around my surroundings, it seemed like an abandoned building.
  • Is this where he planned on killing me?
  • I wondered as my heart raced in fear.
  • They’ll find me dead, in my night gown.
  • Embarrassing.
  • No one is even going to look for me, I had no family.
  • I wonder what Rosa would be doing now?
  • My thoughts scattered around my mind as I struggled with the rope that tightly bound my hands and legs.
  • “Stop struggling.” The same words. I looked up to face my kidnapper, and it was him.
  • His blue eyes were becoming a familiarity and I hated it.
  • He sat calmly on the chair opposite me, and removed his suit jacket.
  • He scrutinized my appearance audaciously as my face reddened due to my self consciousness.
  • The least they could have done was to let me change my clothes.
  • I sighed deeply as I hated the gnawing feeling the silence we sat in caused.
  • “Are you going to kill me?” I asked him with fake bravado.
  • “Do you want me to?” He said as he cocked his left brow.
  • “No.”
  • “What then makes you think I want to kill you?”
  • “I am pretty sure, you didn’t snatch me from my home to sit and talk.” I responded with sarcasm a she frowned.
  • “Matter of fact, that’s what we are doing.”
  • “What?” I asked him.
  • “Sitting and talking.”
  • “Who are you?” I asked him after a brief pause.
  • “The main question is who are you and what were you doing in that room?” Another man in black pants and a vest asked his arms were covered in tattoos and he had brown eyes that looked the same with the color of his buzz cut.
  • “What room?” I asked them in pretense.
  • “I suggest you help yourself by answering truthfully.” The blue eyed man threatened. He was scary. Very very scary especially with the way he played with the knife in his hand.
  • “I went to use the restroom.” I answered.
  • “It was urgent.” I added as I noticed their looks of disbelief.
  • “Are you serious?” The man on vest asked.
  • “Yes.”I replied as the blue eyed man nodded. One of the guards standing few feet away walked towards me with a bag in his hand.
  • Before I could comprehend what was happening, the bag was on my head tightly wrapped as I suffocated.
  • “Oh my…why…I am being…serious.” I rushed out, coughing and gasping for air after his lackey pulled off the bag from my head and backed away.
  • “What did you see there?” He asked.
  • “Nothing.” I croaked out. He nodded again and the guard walked towards me again.
  • “I am being honest…please…” I pleaded in fright and frustration.
  • “If you don’t speak, I’ll hunt down your entire family and kill them too.” He said to me as he stood.
  • “That’s not possible and I am not lying.” I muttered.
  • “You underestimate me…Matteo, what was her name again?” He snarked as he turned to the man in vest.
  • “Rosa Sparks.” He stated as my hairs stood and my eyes widened.
  • Not Rosa. She has been good to me.
  • “Ah, yes. Beautiful Rosa, the bartender.” He continued.
  • “No…don’t hurt her. She knows nothing.” I pleaded again.
  • “What did you see?” Matteo asked me.
  • “Nothing!” I yelled as the tears began to pop in my eyes.
  • Why couldn’t they just believe me?
  • “Then why did you run?” Matteo asked.
  • “I was scared.”I admitted with a sniffle as the tears began to fall.
  • “Scared of what?” He asked as he pointed the knife towards me.
  • “Scared of you!.” I shrieked in anger. My reaction must have surprised him, as I watched him lower the knife.
  • “I saw the body when I ran out and I saw the blood on your sleeves.” I added calmly.
  • “It wasn’t hard to put two and two together.” I continued.
  • “Is that why you messed up my shoes?” He asked me as I frowned.
  • “No…that was purely a mistake. I’m a light drinker.” I confessed. He nodded again and my panic increased. I shut my eyes tightly waiting for the bag to be tightened on my head.
  • “Untie her.” I heard him order.
  • “Are you setting me free?” I asked hopefully as I opened my eyes. He looked at me with a stoic expression and sat down.
  • “Kill her.” He ordered as my face turned pale.
  • “What…no…no, please wait.” I begged as the guard pulled me roughly from the chair.
  • “I said kill her, she’s a loose end.” He repeated.
  • “I’ll do anything, please….please.” I begged him. I couldn’t die yet.
  • “You don’t have to do this…please. I am not going to say anything, I promise..” I continued as I struggled with the guard.
  • “Don’t make me repeat –“
  • “She’s calling again.” Matteo interrupted.
  • “Matteo, for fuck sakes, tell her I’m busy still.” He snapped.
  • “She’s persistent.”
  • “Give it to me.” He commanded as Mattei placed the phone on his hand.
  • “I’ll be there soon.” He said to the other person on the phone call.
  • “Yes. I’m being serious.”
  • “Here.” He said giving Matteo the phone.
  • “What did she want?” Matteo asked him.
  • “To attend the council’s meeting.” He stated with a deep sigh.
  • “You told her you didn’t want to?”
  • “Yes. I thought I made myself perfectly clear.” He answered Matteo.
  • “That’s how she is, you have to show her that you’re actually serious.” Matteo advised.
  • “Do I look like I’m joking?” He asked with annoyance as I scanned the room for an escape.
  • “Well show her.”
  • “How?”
  • “Do what she wants.” Matteo suggested as he stood abruptly.
  • “Are you out of your fucking mind?”
  • “That’s the fastest way to get out of this…and you know it.” Matteo stated adamantly.
  • “You can hire someone.” Matteo added after he chuckled.
  • “She’ll make her investigations, you know that.” He said as he calmly sat.
  • Was this creep bipolar?
  • “What about her?” Matteo asked as he pointed at me.
  • “You’re joking.”
  • “I’m not. She has the features, and the best part is she has no family.” Matteo persuaded as I frowned.
  • “No…no–“ I began.
  • I wanted no part in their plans.
  • “She’s alone. Easy to get rid of.” He concurred as he smiled creepily.
  • “Exactly.” Matteo stated with a smirk.
  • They looked like two evil twins.
  • “Do you want to live?” He asked me.
  • “Yes.” I stated.
  • “Then be my wife.” He said as my eyes squinted in confusion.
  • “What?” I asked as I watched him stand and pull me out of the guards grip roughly as my body jammed his.
  • “Marry me…or you die.” He stated as I stared at him my mouth opened in shock and confusion.
