Chapter 9

• Scarlett's POV
• I must say I felt guilty for the way I acted yesterday, but Ryan didn't have the right to talk to me like that. I'm not his puppet. It's just a contract and I decided to do what I felt was right. I knew I had to apologize, so I woke up pretty early today.
• Mr. Chu wasn't around so I decided to prepare breakfast. While I was setting the food on the table, I saw Ryan coming down the stairs. He looked worked up. I glanced elsewhere to prevent him meeting my eyes when he looked in my direction. He didn't greet me but instead walked beside me towards the door. “Ryan", I called out after him, and he halted his steps. “I know you are angry at me, but can we talk over breakfast please". He was damn silent for my liking. Just when I knew he wouldn't talk, he spoke. “I’m already late for work so you ought to be quick ". I nodded in response before taking my seat. “Actually, I'm sorry for the way I acted yesterday but I don't like it when I'm being restricted. Sorry for breaking the rules". I apologized and looked down. “I think you are right. You can move about freely without escorts. I've talked to my men but don't you dare escape because I will catch you ". I didn't know he would be so considerate. By the time I realized, I was hugging him and thanking him. He cleared his throat and I refrained from the hug. “Urgh sorry about just now", I spoke, scratching my head. He literally smiled at me. “I've got work to do. Take care ". He waved his hands and left the house. That was unexpected. I thought he was going to throw a tantrum but he looked cool. Without wasting time, I took my bag since I was already dressed and left for work.
