Chapter 7

• Scarlett's POV
• The sudden alarm by the bedside woke me up. Who sets an alarm a day after their wedding? It's still too early. It was just six in the morning. I didn't have enough sleep and this annoying alarm won't budge. Guess I need to make my day a joyful one. I got out of bed and took a shower. Not bothering myself with my outfit, I wore baggy jeans with a big shirt and left my hair in a messy bun. Looking in the mirror, I had a nerdy look. I should as well topple it with glasses on. I gently closed the door so as not to make noise. I reluctantly walked from my door and stood in front of Ryan's room. The lights were off. Placing my ears gently so as to hear movements, I heard nothing. “Madam, are you looking for Sir". Someone spoke behind me. I gasped. Gosh, she gave me the fright of my life. You know that feeling of being caught red-handed but here I was just eavesdropping. I looked behind me and blushed in embarrassment. It was one of the maidservants. Why don't they announce their presence?
• “Urgh yeah. Have you seen him around?". I asked, composing myself well. She smiled and nodded. “Sir left very early in the morning for work and told us to tell you not to wait for him because he would be late". I nodded and walked down the stairs. Who said I was going to wait for him? I have better things to do. I took a stroll around the house, walking aimlessly along the second floor. There was a particular room just beneath my room. That was weird. I never saw this room earlier on. It's well hidden by its dull color. Before I could barge in, I was stopped by a hand. Looking up, I saw one of Ryan's men. “Why did you stop me? I'm free to know every place in this house?". I said, annoyed at being interrupted. “I'm sorry, ma'am but that room is out of bounds to everyone". He said with a sad smile. “Why?". “I'm sorry but we have no idea". What was the mystery behind that room? I will definitely find out when no one is lurking around. I quickly rushed down and headed into the kitchen for breakfast.
