Chapter 8

  • Roy’s POV
  • “Have you gone mad?” I snapped furiously, hating the words that came out of her mouth concerning my daughter.
  • “There was an accident, Roy, I heard it in the news, Mina is dead,” Susan said the words again, causing me to go at her again. I pushed her back hard against the wall this time, pressing my arm around her neck.
  • “I will not have you say one more stupid word about my daughter,” I glared into her eyes, feeling mad about her words and her silly games.
  • “Let me go Roy, you are hurting me,” she muttered, trying to pull me away from her.
  • “If you do not want me to hurt you, you better leave,” I groaned deeply, forcing myself to let go of her in order not to kill her.
  • Susan gasps for air immediately, robbing her hand around her neck to suit the pain from my grip.
  • “Amber,” I called out my wife’s name, heading for the door so that I could go and look for her in our daughter’s room, guessing she could be with Mina there.
  • “Roy,” Susan called, causing me to pause abruptly by the door to warn her not to say my name again but then I saw her peering at a note on a table.
  • I rushed to see what it was about, only to see that it was a note from Amber. I quickly picked up the note, nudging Susan aside and unconsciously read Amber’s note out loud.
  • “I am done with this marriage you liar, I saw you and your lover making out in your office today but I bet you didn’t notice me because you were having the time of your life, well, the time of your life cost us the life of our daughter, whose body is lying lifeless in the hospital. You can go ahead and bury our daughter and have a happy life with your lover, Susan and don't ever try to show your face to me again,”
  • “No, no, this can’t be,” I muttered in a husk tone, reading the note again, my heart shattering into pieces because of the content of the note.
  • “My daughter cannot be dead,” I muttered, lifting my gaze that was now blurred with tears to Susan whose lips parted slightly as she stared at me. I cannot make anything of her facial expression at the moment but that’s no concern of mine.
  • “My daughter cannot be dead,” I muttered again, turning my blurry gaze to the note again to read it one more time, hoping the writing on the note would change.
  • “I told you I saw it in the news, that was why I followed you here,” Susan said, taking a step towards me.
  • I shook my head, gesturing for her not to come close to me, my heart drumming in my chest. I need to find my wife and daughter, I said inwardly, turning towards the door.
  • “I do not want you with me,” I said in clenched teeth as Susan wanted to get into my car.
  • “I know the hospital where you can find Mina,” Susan said, causing me to tighten my jaw muscles again, knowing that I do not know which hospital to look in as it wasn’t stated in Amber’s note.
  • A few minutes later, I was staring at my daughter, Mina’s lifeless body that had become pale, my heart tearing up inside me.
  • “How did this happen?” I asked, unconsciously lifting my gaze to the nurse that showed Mina’s body to me.
  • The nurse explained briefly what happened. “We could have saved her if we had her blood type in time,” the nurse added, her words piercing my heart like a thousand knives all at once.
  • I turned from the nurse to Susan who was standing next to the nurse, “You have finished me, Susan,” I muttered, grabbing her by the neck, “look what your stupidity had caused me,” I told her in a husk tone wishing I could turn back time. I would never have had that drink with her.
  • “Calm down sir, you do not want to hurt her,” the nurse said, trying to pull me away from Susan.
  • “I am sorry, Roy, I didn’t know this would happen,” Susan muttered, shedding a tear and this infuriated me.
  • “Don’t you ever shed a tear for my daughter evil b*tch,” I cursed, wondering if she is pretending to care about Mina, the daughter of the woman she wanted to steal her husband from.
  • “You are the reason this happened so don’t you ever shed a tear for my daughter,” I yelled at Susan, my grip still so tight as I felt like squeezing the life out of her.
  • “Security,” I heard the nurse yell, and almost immediately, I felt some strong hands yank me away from Susan. It was the security guards.
  • “I do not ever want to see your face again.” I yelled as I watched her being taken away by a security guard.
  • I turned back to Mina’s corpse and started sobbing bitterly, wondering where Amber is and how much pain she must be going through right now.
  • “My wife, have you seen my wife?” I lifted my teary gaze to the nurse who was still standing by my side.
  • “No sir, your wife left the hospital after seeing that your daughter died, we haven’t seen her since then.” the nurse replied, causing me to recall the content of her note.
  • She had asked me to bury Mina and not show my face to her again.
  • “We need to leave now sir and make arrangements to bury your daughter,” the nurse told me, gesturing for me to follow her.
  • “What?” I muttered, still shocked that this was happening. Instead of a birthday preparation, it’s a burial.
