Chapter 7
- Roy’s Pov
- I slowly opened my eyes after I felt something moving on my face. “What the heck are you doing?” My pupils enlarged, surprised to see Susan in front of me and stroking my face with her fingers.
- “Sorry I woke you up, I hoped you could sleep a little longer, watching your pretty face while you sleep was heartwarming,” Susan said instead of replying to my question.
- “What time is it?” I snapped after I realized that I was still in my office, “Ahh,” I groaned, feeling my head ache after I tried to sit up and go for my phone on my office table.
- “You need to rest a little, Roy, you don’t want to have a heavy migraine.” Susain said, sounding rather strange, which led me to shift on my chair, my head still in pain but noticed that my pants are loose.
- I lifted my gaze to Susan in wonder and was about to ask her how my pants became loose but the smirk on her lips sent a terror in me.
- “Well you and I just had a passionate encounter and I would trade anything in the would to do what we just did again,” Susan said, sounding stranger than she did earlier.
- “What have you done, Susan?” I muttered, recalling briefly that we were just having a drink to celebrate Mina’s birthday after my gaze rested on the bottle of wine on my office table, a fragment of our love making flashed in my memory too.
- “I have done something I have dreamt of doing for years and I hoped it yielded fruit you know,” she said, gently rubbing her hand against her tummy, and causing a sudden wave of anger to rush through me immediately.
- “Susan,” I snapped angrily, trying to force myself out of my chair but paused abruptly after I felt a sharp pain in my head.
- “You need to take it easy, Roy, just relax a little bit longer and you will be fine.” she said as if I were her husband and that what we had done was normal.
- “I was supposed to be meeting Mina’s birthday planner right now,” I groaned deeply because of the pain in my head and the rage in me because of what she had done, forcing myself to pick up my phone and call my wife, Amber.
- “Oh shit,” I cursed after seeing how many missed calls Amber had given me.
- “What,” Sussan asked reluctantly, giving me a rather nasty look, her arms crossed under her breast.
- “So many calls from Amber,” I groaned, dialing Amber’s number to call her back, feeling irritated by Susan who peered at me.
- “And so what if you had so many calls from her, it is only a birthday party, which is a week away, for crying out loud. It’s not like you missed a big appointment,” Suzan said, sounding so sarcastic and this annoyed me even more.
- “Amber is your friend, remember,” I told her furiously, especially when Amber did not answer her phone.
- “I am in love with you Roy, I have been in love with you even before that Amber girl stole you from me, I only just got close to her because of you and besides, I love myself more.” Susan snapped, causing my heart to sink further into my belly, afraid of what she was going to do with what had just happened between us.
- She is next to what Amber held as family, at least we kept her going and helped her not to miss her parent’s and brother very much. “Amber love’s you Susan, she is a good friend and you should not be doing this to her. I have a daughter now, so I think you should respect that and leave our family alone,” I said angrily, hating her guts.
- “And for the record, whatever happened here can never and will never come between me and Amber, I do not love you, Susan, the woman I love is Amber, so get that into your head and abolish whatever thoughts you have about me because it will never happen,” I told her, tightening my jaw muscles and forcing myself out of my chair as I need to go and find my wife.
- “I am going to continue fighting for you, Roy, I cannot let Amber have you all to herself. I was in your life first and not that Amber,” Susan yelled as I walked past her after pulling myself together.
- I wish I never had that drink with her and wished I had insisted on going to meet Amber. I should not have allowed her to use me like this, I thought.
- I kept on calling Amber‘s phone on my way to my car, but she wasn't picking up. I bet she is mad at me but hoped that she was able to finish the meeting without me as it was way past the meeting time.
- I drove back home, thinking of a million things to say to apologize for not going with her to meet the birthday planner.
- “Amber,” I called out, rushing out of my car as soon as I arrived home. “Amber darling,” I called again heading to our room when I didn’t find her in the living room. She must be mad at me as she usually would come out to greet me whenever I returned home plus she hadn’t answered any of my calls.
- “What the heck happened here?” I muttered, pausing my foot immediately after I stepped on some broken pieces of glass on the floor. It was from a picture of me and Amber.
- “Amber,” I muttered, frightened after my gaze wandered around the room, taking note of how tattered it looked, almost as if someone broke in.
- “Amber,” I muttered, turning around immediately I heard someone walk into our bedroom.
- “What are you doing here?” My brows furrowed immediately I saw that it was Susan.
- “The nerve of you to follow me here,” I snapped, rushing towards her and with one push, pinned her back against the wall.
- “Let me go, Roy, I came as soon as I saw the news,” Susan said, getting me a little confused. “Let me go,” she said again, pushing me away from her and looking rather serious.
- “What news are you talking about?” I asked angrily, glaring at her and wondering what game she is up to.
- “You don’t know yet,” Susan muttered, making me confused.
- “Know what?” I snapped angrily, feeling irritated by her presence.
- “Your daughter Mina is dead,” she spat the words out of her mouth causing my blood to boil within me and wondering if she hasn’t done enough to anger me yet.
