Chapter 32 Consequences

• The cool night air instantly hit Alex as she stepped outside, and she pulled her coat tighter around her shivering frame. She expected to find Pedro sitting on one of the lounge chairs beside the swimming pool, but instead, the sound of aggressive splashing made her freeze in her tracks.
• "What the hell?" she muttered, squinting through the darkness.
• There, cutting through the water with furious strokes, was Pedro. The moonlight caught the ripples he created as he swam lap after lap with an almost desperate intensity. The night was freezing—so cold that Alex's breath came out in visible puffs—yet there he was, submerged in what had to be icy water.
