Chapter 27 In The Dark [Kristoff]

  • I sit at a table at the farthest end, in the dark, away from the stripper stage and other tables, tapping my finger idly as I sip my whiskey and glance out the door every once in a while. Just like Jojo wanted, the room is divided into two — the stripper stage taking up a small portion with three strong, long poles installed. Three tall, beautiful, dark girls clung to them now naked, their hair flailing about, all around them. The male patrons watch, their tongues hanging out in glee like dogs, eyes skimming over every inch of the girls' hot, sexy, sweaty bodies.
  • This afternoon, I paid Patrick a friendly visit. What happened last night between Titania and I surprised me. As well as made me furious. I can't get away that nonchalant look on her face when she told me boldly that she wasn't afraid of the dark. She's braved pain constantly, and has become accustomed to it. I want to know the reason, or rather, the person responsible for causing such damage to her. It can't be Patrick — he means the world to her.
  • At first, I thought Patrick would brush off my questions, and tell me to stick my nose in issues where it's needed, but he was different. He talked about Titania's childhood with so much nostalgia, so much emotion, that I realized how hard indeed it must be for him to be away from her, even for a day. He'd given her the best education. He'd treated her like a daughter he never had, and the only reason why he was still single till this point was because he couldn't bring himself to trust any woman in taking good care of her while he was away working.
