Chapter 21

• Ayu stared blankly out the window, her mind drifting to the story her friend had just told her over the phone. “I had a feeling… Are you okay?” Her voice was soft, but tinged with bitterness.
• She tried to hide the storm of worry brewing inside her chest, but the glimmer in her eyes betrayed her. Taking a deep breath, she tried to gather strength to stay calm. Her heart pounded fast, pumping anxiety that words couldn’t express. Ayu bit her lower lip, a clear sign that she was trying hard not to cry.
• Daniel let out a hollow laugh and shook his head. “No,” he sighed deeply. “They threatened to remove my name from the inheritance list, just like my father’s lawyer said a while ago. All my access to the company will be frozen. The cards, the apartment, even the car they gave me — they’re going to take it all back by force.”
