Chapter 12 You Are Dying Soon

  • “That's right. You can have any other things except for the Emerald Chalcedony!” That arrogant young man snorted coldly.
  • Colin frowned and stepped forward. “Dr. Coldrell is willing to save father in exchange for Emerald Chalcedony. Aren't you all going against your words if you act like this?”
  • “What do you know? No means no. My decision is the final word!” Melinda was adamant.
  • “That's enough!” At that moment, Richard bellowed and looked at Melinda in displeasure.
  • “Is my life not as worthy as a piece of rock? Moreover, how can we, the Rydermans, break our promise? Cut the nonsense and immediately hand the Emerald Chalcedony to Mr. Coldrell afterward!”
  • “Richard, you...”
  • Melinda gritted her teeth as her face darkened.
  • “Even if we are giving him the Emerald Chalcedony, we should do it after he cures your condition!”
  • “I said to hand the Emerald Chalcedony over immediately afterward. Do you not hear me?” Richard was infuriated by Melinda's stubbornness.
  • Others might not see it, but he knew the benefits of becoming acquainted with the young man before him very well.
  • Being on friendly terms with that kind of person was something much more valuable than the Emerald Chalcedony.
  • Melinda had no choice but to suppress her emotions despite her reluctance to admit defeat at the sight of Richard's wrath.
  • The others present kept quiet and did not dare to make a sound.
  • Winston did not choose to stay much longer following the turns of events.
  • “Remember this. You still have to kneel and grovel at my feet. You owe me that much!”
  • Before leaving, he regarded the dumbfounded Cyren with a meaningful look before striding away.
  • “Mr. Coldrell, don't be mad about what happened earlier. Old Mr. Ryderman is actually quite a nice person,” Colston jogged up to Winston and said cautiously.
  • “That's all right. I don't mind something as trivial as this.”
  • Winston smiled and shook his head.
  • “By the way, have you set up an appointment with Old Mr. Quinn?”
  • Now that he had settled the matter related to the Emerald Chalcedony, he had to begin planning Anna's birthday.
  • Winston must obtain the top floor of Argos Tower for his sister as well as give the despicable couple a surprise.
  • Winston reckoned perhaps Richard would have been sufficiently capable of achieving that, but he wanted to become acquainted with more people who could assist him.
  • After all, the Quinns were more influential than the Rydermans.
  • “Old Mr. Quinn might come at any time. Why don't we go to the hospital now to take a look?”
  • “Sure!”
  • Eden Hospital was located in the city center and was relatively large-scale.
  • There were countless visiting patients at the facility and a grand pharmacy attached beside it. It was no wonder the hospital was able to generate an annual profit of over ten million.
  • “Why are you here, Grandpa?”
  • A young man and woman were chatting in the hospital lobby. They immediately stepped forward and greeted Colton upon seeing his arrival.
  • “Jada, come here. Let me introduce to you the new chief physician of our hospital, Dr. Winston Coldrell. You should associate yourself more closely with him and seek his guidance should you have any doubts. You will certainly benefit from his teachings!”
  • He patted his granddaughter's head affectionately. Then, he turned to look at Winston.
  • Mr. Coldrell, this is my granddaughter, Jada. She's relatively talented in medical skills. Please guide her when you have the time.”
  • “It's nice to meet you, Winston!”
  • Jada appeared to be just over twenty years old. Her hair was tied into a ponytail, and her delicate facial features were arranged into a bright smile as she politely greeted Winston.
  • However, she was slightly confused by the appointment of Winston, a young man in his twenties, as the hospital's chief physician. Is Grandpa's judgment deteriorating because he's getting old?
  • “Hello,” Winston replied with a smile.
  • “Mr. Ginsel, are you serious? He's going to be our hospital's chief physician?”
  • The young man, standing aside, instantly sized Winston up while wearing a doubtful expression.
  • As Jada's admirer, he felt dissatisfied when he heard Colton telling his granddaughter to establish a closer relationship with Winston.
  • More importantly, he was the current chief physician's nephew.
  • “Oh, I forgot to introduce him. He's our hospital's current director of diagnosis and treatment department, Hector Hannes,” Jada said.
  • Winston glanced at him casually and nodded at him in acknowledgment.
  • “That's right. Gather everyone at once. I want to announce this matter to all the staff,” Colton uttered.
  • “Wait a moment, Mr. Ginsel. Shouldn't you discuss this matter with my uncle first?”
  • Hector was getting anxious. He was able to become the director of the diagnosis and treatment department at a young age because of his uncle's help.
  • If Winston became the new chief physician, Hector could no longer rely on his uncle to back him up.
  • “There's no need for a discussion. What's the matter? Do you have a problem with my decision?” Colton furrowed his brows.
  • “No, that's not it. I just think that he's too young, and I'm afraid he will not be able to handle the responsibilities well,” Hector explained hastily. His gaze filled with enmity continued to linger on Winston.
  • “You don't have to worry about that. Instead, you should just focus on doing your job.”
  • Colton glanced at Hector before inviting Winston to walk toward the inner part of the hospital.
  • Shortly after, everyone was gathered in the conference room.
  • “From today onward, Mr. Coldrell will become our hospital's chief physician and one of our hospital's shareholders. In the future, he will be responsible for all the matters here if I'm not around. Jada will liaise closely with Mr. Coldrell for all the other work-related issues.”
  • Without wasting time, Colton directly made the announcement.
  • Upon hearing his speech, the crowd fell silent as they shifted their gazes onto Winston.
  • Appointing him as the chief physician and a shareholder, not to mention having Jada liaise with him. What is Mr. Ginsel doing? Is he planning to gift the hospital and his granddaughter away to this young man? Who is this young man anyway? Why is Mr. Ginsel favoring him to such an extent?
  • Only two people wore a grimace among the crowd.
  • One of them was the current chief physician, Longines Hannes, and the other was Hector.
  • The latter was not only mad about his uncle stepping down from the chief physician position but also mainly because Jada became Winston's liaison officer at work.
  • The chance of Jada and Winston ending up together became higher, while Hector's opportunity to win her affection decreased significantly.
  • I can't allow this to happen. I must find a way to force that b*stard to leave.
  • “What are you doing here, Winston?”
  • After the conference ended, Winston strolled around the hospital alone.
  • Just as he returned to the lobby, a familiar yet sickening voice sounded.
  • The more two people hated one another, the easier they would stumble into each other. He saw Winnie, Hugh, Emily, and Hector standing nearby.
  • “What does my presence here have to do with you?”
  • Winston glanced at Winnie emotionlessly before continuing to stride ahead.
  • “Haha. I know why you're here. You must be here to look for Mr. Ginsel to discuss your sister's treatment fee!” Hugh jeered at Winston.
  • The treatment fee would not be an issue under normal circumstances, but to someone recently released from prison and did not have any money, the sum was definitely too much to afford.
  • “I suppose you don't have enough money to spend? If you're so poor, then hurry up and divorce Winnie. Two million is sufficient for someone like you to spend a lifetime!”
  • Emily lifted her chin proudly as she wore a mocking expression. The countless pieces of jewelry she wore failed to mask her lowly aura.
  • “Do you see this? Without you, I can visit a prestigious healthcare facility like Eden Hospital to let the chief physician check on my condition even when I am just experiencing mild dizziness and chest pain!”
  • “Oh?”
  • Winston instinctively glanced at Hector after listening to that remark. His lips curled into a playful sneer.
  • Embarrassment and shame rose within Hector upon meeting Winston's eyes. He hastily looked down.
  • He could have met with his uncle due to his familial connection in the past, but now...
  • “Winston, I'm getting engaged tomorrow. Can you think of this as doing me a favor and finalizing our divorce?”
  • At that moment, Winnie stepped forward with her brows knitted.
  • “I told you. I'll fulfill your wish once I make a thorough investigation on Anna's matter,” Winston responded nonchalantly.
  • “Winnie, don't mind him. I guarantee he will take the initiative to look for us to go through with the procedures today! I suggest you know your situation and don't go digging your own grave!” Hugh scoffed.
  • Winston eyed Hugh with a frown before walking ahead.
  • He did not wish to face those people even for a second longer because they disgusted him.
  • However, he came to a halt after taking two steps forward. Then, he glanced at Emily.
  • “By the way, I forgot to tell you last night. You have liver cancer, and I'm afraid you'll not live much longer. Therefore, you should really enjoy and appreciate the rest of your time now.”
