• I wasn’t heartless and although I hardly approved of my brothers choices of partners, I was in love with their children and it was for them I put on a smile as they approached. I wasn’t about to ruin their childlike mood with tantrums and besides there was plenty of time to do that later and to show my mother that I wasn’t about to back down from my request to leave home.
