Chapter 12

• Melanie's eyes widened. When did Harold get married without informing her? She watched Annie closely, noting that she didn't look like someone who was out of her senses.
• "You're Harold's wife?" Melanie asked, and Annie slowly nodded. What if she was a journalist? Annie thought, biting her tongue. She gazed at Harold with her tear filled eyes and finally returned her gaze to Melanie.
• "We wish it to be a secret, and you will be held responsible if anyone finds out about it," she said, her tone threatening, part of her liking the confused look on Melanie's face. Despite knowing she had been childish and irrational, she felt better. The thought of being Harold's wife sent her reeling with emotions, that’s how much she had come to love him, or maybe it was just her greed.
