Chapter 6

  • ~ Alpha Andrew ~
  • “We found her unconscious in her garden, alpha” gamma Justin announced.
  • ‘Unconscious’ then she is alive and breathing. This piece of news brought peace to my soul, but yet I could not move my legs. In my excited state I almost laughed out loud. I still did not move, I remained where I was, staring at her. She is back to me, and I can tell that she is alive.
  • “Let me take her inside to rest” gamma Justin said and seeing that I was unable to utter a single word, he went ahead to take her inside.
  • I was relieved knowing that Andrea is okay. I would not be able to bear it if anything happened to her.
  • “What happened to her?” I asked staring at one of the warriors by name, Jason.
  • He responded. “We found her unconscious in her garden, alpha”
  • “Unconscious, in her garden...” I stuttered.
  • That was it, I knew that already. She was unconscious all along and that was why I was drawn to her. But then, what led to her being unconscious?
  • Jason hesitated for a while before he finally added. “Alpha, I think that Andrea mind linked us when she was about to pass out, she drew us all to her exact location”
  • Mind link at her age? That is impossible.
  • Come to think of it, it was the mind link. Yes, it is possible. That is what I felt. Andrea was actually calling on me for help, but I allowed my fears to take a better part of me. I was so lost that I could not think of the right thing to do. I never even thought of going in search of her even though it was so clear that she was in her garden.
  • Oh no, the thought that once again I wasn’t there for her when she needed me the most drove me insane.
  • I failed her yet again, just as always.
  • “What was she doing in the garden all alone, who allowed her to go out? If anything happens to Andrea, I won’t spare any one of you, you will all pay with your lives if this should repeat itself next time. I will make sure the person that is responsible for this is adequately punished” I yelled at them in my frustration.
  • “Alpha…” Jason began.
  • “You all can go now,” beta Xander said to the warriors and they immediately left.
  • Jason wanted to say something but beta Xander would not allow him as he knew this is not the best time to explain or try to put up any defense before me.
  • Now alone with my beta, I looked at him ashamed of myself for my outburst. But what could a poor father do when he has to live in fear of his only child being taken away from him at any time without being able to do anything to prevent such, to defend his daughter.
  • My Andrea is my all, and anything that has to do with her takes away my sense of reasoning.
  • “But you know no one can stop Andrea from going to her garden,” beta Xander said to me.
  • His words drew me back to the present and got me even more confused.
  • ~ Beta Xander ~
  • “What was she doing in the garden all alone, who allowed her to go out? If anything happens to Andrea, I won’t spare any one of you, you will all pay with your lives if this should repeat itself next time. I will make sure the person that is responsible for this is adequately punished” I watched as the alpha yelled at them. First, it was me, and now it is their turn.
  • “Alpha…” Jason wanted to explain.
  • I knew what he wanted to say, he wanted to remind the alpha that no one can stop the princess’ movement, but at the moment that would only aggravate the situation of things so I stopped him. “You all can go now”
  • They left one by one, and soon it was left with just the alpha and me.
  • The alpha looked at me and I can see the guilt mixed with shame in his eyes but I do not blame him one bit. I believe I might have done worse if I was in his stead. A daughter is the only thing a father lives for.
  • “But you know no one can stop Andrea from going to her garden,” I said to him.
  • “And why is that so, Xander?” he asked with a surprised look.
  • “Andrea personally planted her garden, alpha. She watered it with the water from the spring and watched it grow. You can’t possibly take that away from her” I replied.
  • As I spoke, he listened with rapt attention. He knew just so little about Andrea, and right now he felt so ashamed of himself and he must be feeling like a bad father, but that is not what I aim to achieve and so I continued. “You are so lost in trying to protect her that you have lost the joy of being a part of her life, alpha. Please allow the girl to enjoy her childhood like every other child" I urged.
  • “I failed her, Xander” he replied in a low tone.
  • “No, alpha, you didn’t fail her. Sincerely I understand you my friend, but some things are just meant to be, please allow it to be” I begged.
  • Hearing my words, he bowed his head in defeat. He knew I am right, but I know that he cannot help it. his mind had been overtaken by fear, and his subconscious had been overtaken by the guilt of something bad becoming of his princess.
  • What can a poor helpless father do?
  • With this realization, I looked at him pitifully, and I said. “Let us go check on Andrea now, alpha, she needs us,”
  • With this, I led the way, while he followed behind without uttering a word.
