Chapter 45 Dead Body On The Lake

• If only Kiera had known, she wouldn’t have gone to her apartment at lakeside thinking her mother would be waiting for her. Of course her mother was there—but not alive anymore.
• At first glance, she thought the thing floating on the water was some oversized fish, maybe a dead shark washed in by the storm. Fate wasn’t smiling that day. As she stepped closer, her chest tightening, she realized the bloated body was her mother.
• Kiera waded in, dragging the corpse out of the water. Rope burns marked her wrists, hands bound before she was tossed into the lake like nothing but trash. Even if she had been a fish, at least that would’ve been profitable. But no…… Her mother was drifting pale, skin ghostly white, belly grotesquely swollen.
