• Kiera had realized Drake and Mayor Vic were plotting against her. To weaken Drake emotionally, she slipped into Lena’s home, raised her gun, and shot her in the chest at close range then escaped.
• Sammy drove as fast as he could, his hands gripping the wheel tight while the storm gathered in the distance, shaking the earth like an oncoming earthquake.
• Drake held Lena in his arms, her blood warm against him. “Sammy, drive faster!” he shouted, panic written all over his face.
