Chapter 11 Attack On Lena
- “Silence!!” Vic shouted.
- Drake was just staring outside and was handcuffed in the van.
- “Phssh… this is unbelievable” he scoffed.
- “As from now y'all are in safe hands, we will all get out of this Dome safe and alive. Let us all stick together, pointing at Drake in the van… this traitor must be hanged tomorrow.”
- Vic added through clenched teeth.
- “Anybody against this judgement should raise a hand now!!” he growled, Sharp eyes scanning everyone male and female, young and old.
- Silence everywhere, even a drop of pin can be easily heard.
- Nobody dared to raise a hand in objection, knowing fully well how powerful the Mayor is.
- “If no one then let us all gather at the town square tomorrow.” Y'all are dismissed. Vic stood watching, a satisfied smirk carving into his face.
- Without a word, the mayor climbed into the second sheriff van, slamming the door shut. Engines rumbled. Tires screeched against gravel.
- The convoy headed straight for the sheriff’s headquarters, a squat, cold building that sat like a bunker on the edge of town.
- Inside, Drake was thrown into a holding cell with four concrete walls, no windows, and a metal door that echoed with every lock turned. It wasn’t just confinement. It was isolated.
- And Vic made sure it felt like exile.
- *****
- At Lena's apartment.
- She couldn't say anything, just staring at Kiera as she laid resting on the couch.
- “But ma'am..” she stammered, heart racing.
- “All these things you are spitting about a mysterious alien egg.. causing this Dome chaos, is it true at all?” she asked Kiera, doubt in her voice.
- “Either you believe it or not the deed is done, judgement has come upon Black Hollow and no one can escape it.” Kiera muttered, smile twitching unnaturally.
- “Judgement?” Lena asked, confused.
- “Yes Lena.” She added weakly. “Every single person in this town will be possessed by aliens to protect the kingship and the ‘Alien King’ will be reborn.” she added, head tilting with a strange rhythm.
- Kiera's eyes began to change color, she shrieked and began to have seizures, aliens crawled inside her. She began to speak a strange language.
- “Flesh remembers pain… but you, little spark, do not know the First Wound.”
- “This world... is not yours. You borrowed it. You bled it. Now it answers back.”
- She tilted her head too far then slowly, creaking the twist of her neck.
- “Four. Must. Awaken. One. Must. Fall.”
- Lena froze heart racing, as she noticed kiera fell unconscious. She panicked, and raced to get water splashing it on Keira. “Wake up… Kiera wake up.” She cried, pressed hard on Kiera chest. “What should I do now?”she whispered, fear curling her words.
- Kiera jerked and opened her eyes wide, she whispered, fear curling her words.
- “Oh my stars, Thanks you're awake What just happened to you? You speak those words from the woods again… tell me what it means”Lena cried out, desperation spilling through.
- “What do you mean by Four. Must. Awaken. One. Must. Fall.” she added, tone dipped in worry.
- “You won't understand,” she replied, voice distorted like two people speaking at once.
- “What the heck? Let me understand now or I will report you and your creepy shit immediately!!” Lena interjected, nerves fraying.
- “Alright I will..” Kiera pleaded as she sat down calmly awaiting the alien to fully activate her. “I am not ordinary” she whispered, tone soaked in hidden threat.
- “What do you mean?” Lena asked, voice trembling, eyes darting around the room like a cornered animal.
- “I am one of the Chosen,” Kiera said, her tone flattening to something unnatural. “The first vessel of rebirth. I am here to protect the egg… and ensure the Alien King's return. The kingship must be secured no matter the cost.”
- Her voice no longer sounded like Kiera’s. It echoed split, as if two entities were speaking at once. Lena’s throat tightened.
- “O-okay… um… but why didn’t you tell us earlier?” she asked, inching toward the door, blood draining from her face. “I mean… when Drake was still…”
- “Because you would’ve been a threat.”
- Kiera’s head snapped up. Her eyes were glowing blood-red, veins expanding violently along her neck and arms. Blackened claws burst from her fingertips like knives. Her legs cracked, reshaping. Her smile bled cruelty.
- Lena froze, gasping. Her heart seized in her chest. “K-Kiera… are you okay? I-I think I need the restroom… I’ll be right back…”
- “No, Lena.” The smile stretched wider.
- “You can’t just go.” She took a step forward — stiff, jerking, zombie-like. Her bones cracked with each movement. A dark liquid began to ooze from her eyes.
- Lena backed into the door, hand frantically turning the knob.
- Locked….
- “Oh God…” she whispered.
- Her body trembled uncontrollably. Sweat poured from her forehead. Her breath came out in short, broken gasps.
- “Kiera please…”
- “Don't be afraid, Lena.” Kiera whispered but her voice sounded like a blade dragging across stone. “I only need your silence.”
- With a screech, Kiera lunged.
- Lena screamed, throwing herself sideways. Kiera slammed into the door, splinters flying. Her claws raked the air, just inches from Lena’s face.
- Racing to her room she slammed the door behind her. Kiera moved to the door swiftly, Lena continued screaming as she held the door firm “please don't… please” She pleaded.
- “You can't escape.” Kiera threatened.
- Lena moved quickly to another door, the secret exit she created long ago for emergency and sneaking out while she was still at high school, she could easily slip off without notice anytime her father was home. The exit saved her ass from Kiera claws, before Kiera could rip the door open with full force. Lena jumped down, with a heavy thud on the ground she raced towards the street terrified.
- Kiera entered the room and realised she just lost a prey. She left the house immediately into the woods.
- Lena, walking very fast without looking back
- “I must inform Drake about this.” she whispered her voice barely holding together.
