Chapter 32 Simplistic

  • While helping Tabata with household chores, as she always did when visiting her, Paulina didn't take long to tell what had brought her to the brink of tears. It wasn't exactly her own initiative, Tabata had a subtle way of extracting information, making her feel comfortable to open up. After a few hours talking about various topics and finally venting, Paulina felt lighter, acknowledging that Simon was right, dwelling on her pain alone brought more suffering than relief. It was uncomfortable, but Tabata didn't seem upset, she even tried to cheer her up. In the midst of the conversation, she managed to make Paulina joke that her cousin should take her to the law firm where he worked.
  • "I thought Cherry was a good person," she complained after placing two juice glasses on the baby's room coffee table and sitting in one of the armchairs. "I always treated her well and she did this to me."
  • "I don't think the blame is entirely hers." Sitting in the other armchair, breastfeeding Lean, Tabata had a pitying look at Perez. "The person who is committed is your fiancé. Or is she committed too?"
