- The loud music next to her ear both woke up and startled Paulina. With her heart pounding, she sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes with one hand while groping for her phone on the nightstand with the other. She picked it up and, squinting one eye, slid her finger across the screen to answer.
- "Hello..." she mumbled sleepily.
